My eyes opened wide suddenly, but I quickly closed them again at the sudden burst of bright light. Slowly trying to open them once more, I looked to my right and left, only to be bombarded with questions from my ten friends.
"How are you?" "You finally woke up!" "Do you want something?" "Are you alright?" and so on.
"Guys, if you don't shut up, I'm going back to sleep," I warned them, only to be met with a chorus of "Shut up!" from all ten of them.
"Where am I? What happened? And where are Pappie and Mazaa? I want to meet them. Where are they?" I asked, feeling confused and disoriented.
"Calm down, we'll tell you everything. Your parents are on their way, they just went home an hour ago because we asked them to," one of my friends explained.
"Oh, okay. Where am I?" I asked again.
"Um," one of my friends started before being interrupted by the arrival of a doctor, I guess?
"Hello, Vedika. How are you feeling, darling? I am your doctor, Miss Avantika."
I just give her a curt nod.
"So, do you recall anything?" she asked.
"I- I don't remember. Doc, what happened to me, though? Why am I here?" I asked, feeling anxious.
"You were unconscious for ten days. And, thanks to your friends' and parents' prayers, you woke up. They didn't leave the hospital even for a second, not even to eat. We literally had to kick them out," she explained, causing everyone to chuckle.
"Okay, I'll leave you guys alone. Call me instantly if you need anything, Vedika," she said before leaving the room.
"Guys, thank you so much for everything. I owe you guys. And I'm really sorry too. You guys had to be here in the hospital, leaving all your work," I apologized.
"Shut up. Friends don't thank or say sorry to each other," Aashna said.
