Six remembered where the elevator was. She could remember the door you went through to get to it. She remembered holding hands with her father leaving the elevator heading towards the exit.
She knew how to get out but, there was one problem.
Her oldest aunt could hunt you down. The elevator was close to her room. She knew it was. And if she heard the kids sneak towards the exit, oh god it would end so badly. All her friends would surely die. None of them would be able to ever see land again.
So, here she stood at the foot of the stairs hearing her aunt him. Six gulped slowly heading up the stair case listening to the creepy humming knowing at this exact moment her aunt was combing her hair. All she had to do was get to the mirror. All she had to do was grab the mirror that belonged to one of her cousins.
Her aunt always hated her cousins mirrors because he would experiment on them with magic. She had looked in one and it had burnt her neck once. Six had heard her complain to her mother once. Yet, she stopped complaining one day after something or someone had gotten rid of her cousin. After that her aunt couldn't bring herself to throw out the last mirror he had played with.
All six had to do was get that mirror. That was all she had to do. Yet, as she snuck by her aunt who was humming an old lullaby and combing her hair, all she could feel was a pit of emptiness in her stomach.
She knew she might die. She expected that and was still coming to terms with it. Yet, something about the way her aunt was staring at nothing made her skin crawl. Something made her feel like she wouldn't be the only thing the lady would try to take her anger out on tonight.
