Adeline's POV

******

"Uh... I'm here?" I utter and the man from before stands, a brochure lodged in his hands

"I'm so glad you made it!" He announces with a smile "Come... sit! sit!" He urges and points to a seat on the outskirts of the circle.

"What is this... like a cult or something?..." I ask as I walk over to the seat

"A cult of healing Miss Darko!" He excitedly announces

"I'm pretty sure all cults promise that" I mutter and earn a few sniggers in the crowd

"Alright everybody, lets make our new member feel welcome" The man says as I roll back in my seat "Introduce yourself" He gestures towards me

"Uh... Alright. My Names Adeline and... I'm here cause I like the drugs" I say, and the crowd begins to clap

I look around confused and slowly begin to clap myself. I had no fucking clue what they were applauding, but I was now applauding it too.

It wasn't an enthusiastic clap like the ones you get at a primary school assembly, each kid attempting to earn the final clap at the end. This clap was slow, just above the spend that would've made it sarcastic. Each face slumped. Not a single spine sat straight in that room.

"Tell us about your past Adeline. How did you end up here?"

"I uh... Just got out of prison. I was there for ten years... Meet a few people along the way and... three weeks ago I got out with the promise of coming here so..." I shrug off the end and everyone stares at me, intrigued by my words

"Fantastic! Thank you for your honesty... Do you still have contact with these people you meet in prison?" The man begins to question and I shift uncomfortably in my seat

"Uh, yeah. I made really good friends with these people. They are my family. Whether I'm on the outside or not, I still love these people" I speak, my words growing frustrated

The man looks at me with a surprised look. I guess that wasn't the answer he was looking for. He shifts and moves around, not knowing what to say next. He just gestures everyone to clap, and slowly the group begins to join in unison.

"Thank you so much, Adeline. See, honesty and letting out those feeling of frustration are very important in here. Thank you so much for starting us off Adeline!" He uncomfortably announces to the group

The group continues on, but I slowly become engulfed in thought. I was worried about how life in here was going to play out. I was only here for six months, but something told me that time wasn't going to be pleasant. And what about life after? What was I gonna do in six months time? Where was I going to go?

I never really had a family.

Lost in my thoughts, my eyes began to wonder. It wasn't till they landed on an odd guy sitting across from me that my thoughts began to waste towards him.

He wasn't like everyone else in that room. His presence separated from everyone else's. He didn't looked like he was trapped in a rehab listening to bullshit in a sad circle. He looked like he could be on a beach in Tahiti.

A small smirk protruding from his taunting lips. His eyes not darting around nervously like everyone else's. His eyes were off somewhere else.

Where were his thoughts? Where was his mind? (Pixies begins blasting in the background... sorry back to the story)

I watched him for a moment. My eyes fixated on his prideful stance. Not a worry. Not a care. His tight leather pants laced up at the sides. His loose grey shirt falling off him. His worn out high tops, one slightly elevated as his right leg crosses over his left.
