I finally got my surgery...oW

*Emily's POV*

I stared at the ring in shock, tears streaming down my face. "Oh my god...YES! YES ABSOLUTELY!"

I finally snapped back into reality and flung myself into Ruby's arms. We were both laughing and crying, and my fiance slipped the ring on my finger. I admired it and kissed her deeply.

"You really don't mind me being like...this?" I asked, still feeling a little ashamed.

"Of course not, Em," Ruby smiled and grabbed my hand. "You're always gonna be my girl, no matter what you look like."

I blushed and kissed her softly and quickly. "There's something else... I was looking into it, and there's a doctor who does top surgery for trans people. A lot of people hate him because it's so controversial, but his patients say he's amazing. The only problem is...his office is in California. And it costs a lot..."

I looked down, ashamed. I'm wasting Ruby's money, and especially with the wedding we're about to plan, we need to be saving money. My cheeks flushed, and I felt hot tears rise up in my eyes. Ruby held my chin softly and lifted it up a little.

"Love, money doesn't matter right now. Anything to make you happy. And I want you to be as comfortable as possible for the wedding, ok?"

My tears changed from embarrassed ones into happy ones. I wrapped my arms around Ruby's neck and hugged her tightly.

In this moment, nothing could hurt me. Because Ruby, without even knowing it, just made me feel like I was invincible. With her by my side, nothing bad could happen to us.

*Mike's POV*

"Fuck, ok, so you have to bring these, ok?" Eddie handed me a bouquet of flowers as he fixed my jacket for the millionth time.

"Where did you even get-"

"The gift shop, that's not important." Eddie glared at me. "Annie Summers is the nicest girl ever, and the best doctor Richie has. If you fuck this up, and we lose her," He jabbed his pointer finger on my chest. "I will fucking murder you, Hanlon."

I laughed and took the flowers from him. "Listen, I appreciate the advice, but I've been on a date before."

My chipmunk-like friend ran around the room, trying to find my shoes. I'm really glad to see him finally starting to act like himself for the first time in almost 3 years.

"Yeah, duh, but THIS date is really important! Don't mention Dan, ok? You could trigger her, and then she might hate you. OH and buy her chocolates." Eddie rambled on. "I'm bad at being straight, but I think I know how straight people date...maybe.." A puzzled look covered his small, red face and I laughed again.

"Eddie, I swear, I'm ok. I know what I'm d-"

Eddie shushed me and handed me a small notepad.

"Here's all the cheesy pick up lines that Richie's ever used on me. I've highlighted all the ones that are actually cute, and not about fucking my mom."

He rolled his eyes and took a step back, admiring his work.

Eddie dressed me in a mauve colored button up shirt, a leather jacket, and black jeans. I grabbed the collar of the jacket and flipped it up, making a kissy face at Eddie.

"Hanlon. Mike Hanlon," I laughed.

Eddie scowled, but giggled too. "Don't make fun of my fashion choices! Trust me, when you and Annie are making out later, you'll be thanking me."

I let out a deep sigh and walked into the small bathroom Eddie had. Since he was helping me get ready, I brought my stuff to his hospital room.

I looked in the mirror and smiled to myself. Honestly, Eddie made me look...kind of adorable. I sprayed a puff of breath spray in my mouth and puckered my lips, quickly putting chapstick on.

"How do I look?" I asked as I walked out, picking up the bouquet. "If you weren't dating Richie, would you hit on me?"

Eddie scrunched up his nose and shook his head. "Nah, you're too much of a bottom for me."

"What? What does that mea-"

I was interrupted as we both heard a loud knock on the door.

"Mikey? You in here? It's Annie."

I smiled to myself and gave Eddie a thumbs up before walking out the door. Annie was smiling, light freckles dancing across her face. Her yellow sundress was flowing slightly in the air conditioning, and she was fidgeting with her bracelets and necklace.

"Don't worry, I'm nervous too," I winked and laughed. Annie giggled, and it sounded like the chiming of bells. She's...perfect.

I held my hand out, and she happily took it. We walked out of the hospital and down the road, quickly reaching the the town square.

"Ooh, Mikey there's a new baker's shop!! It just opened, c'mon we have to check it out!!" Annie's eyes lit up and she dragged me over to the new building in town.

She led me inside, and instantly, the smells of cinnamon, chocolate and sugar flew up my nose. I sighed and smiled, Annie breathing in the scent quickly beside me and doing the same.

She walked up to the baker quickly and smiled that beautiful smile.

"Two double chocolate chip muffins, please!" Annie pointed to the giant treats in the display window.

I grabbed my wallet as the guy came back with a small bag, filled with our muffins. I paid him and we walked outside, strolling down Main Street.

"It's always so pretty this time of year," Annie grinned, popping a chocolate chip into his mouth. "The trees are starting to bud, and the trees are alive and green."

"It can't be any prettier than you," I blushed, and grabbed her hand gently.

I think I'm starting to fall for Annie Summers...
