The cure

After our little incident at Logans house we left and went to go eat some Dunkin' donuts. On the way there I realized my dad doesn't know I left house early so I called and lied to him that I left early because I wanted to go on a walk before I went to school to clear my head from yesterday.

After I get off my phone I look to see Logan staring at me.

"Is everything all right?"

"Yeah he thinks I went to go on a walk."

"Wow you actually lied to him that surprising." Logan says grabbing me and pulling me in at the waist while kissing my forehead.

Logan knows that I don't like lying to my dad, but sometimes lying leads to less questions, and that's how I like it.

We make our way up the line and order our food. We walk back to school and I look up to see my bestfriend and she doesn't look to sick. I jump up and let go of Logans hand and run up to her.

"Hey" she say smiling brightly.

"Hey" I say smiling just as bright

"Your not sick anymore." I say scrunching my eyebrows in confusion.

"No I'm not anymore, guess why!" She says smirking.

"Why?" Logan asks coming to stand right besides me

"I wasn't asking you, I was asking Joy, Lucas." Megan says sharply staring daggers at him. Logan goes to say something but I cut him off so an argument doesn't start between the two.

"You know his name is Logan, Megan but why?

"Because the school is handing out the cure to students!" She says happily.

"Wait are you for real?" I say shocked.

"Yes bitch I'm for real. They got everybody in there, doesn't matter if your sick or not and when i took it I instantly felt relief."

I was going to get excited and join in on her happiness until I start to think a vital question. How the hell did they get a cure so damn fast? And are vaccines every supposed to work that fast?

"Wait how did they get a cure that fast? I say asking my question out loud.

Megan and Logan both look at me and start to look confused just like me.

"Yeah that is true huh? I'm just hoping they got it fast because the virus was moving rapidly and they didn't want people dying quickly. But you're right Joy, that is kinda weird." says Megan

"Well should we go and take it?" I say confused.

"I mean we have to it's the law the government made it mandatory."

I look at Logan and Megan unsure this all seems kind of shady, but if they are forcing us to taking it I don't know what we can do.

Logan looks down at my uncertain face and shakes his head in disapproval "No we are going home, you look uncomfortable. " He said taking me to the the car.

"Wait, they are going to give you the cure whether you like it or not, they have a roster and if you name isn't checked then they'll go to your house and make sure you take it." Megan said running after us.

"And how the hell do you know all of that. Logan says already unlocking his car.

"It's on the paper they give you-" She shut the door that Logan just opened and stares at him. Logan stares back with a 'what the fuck' look before Megan rolls her eyes and sighs deeply trying to reason with us again.

"Come on you guys just get it over with I took the cure and look, I got better, also the people from yesterday don't have any symptoms, and if something terrible does happen then it happens to all of us." Megan says trying to reassure us.
