Two more weeks went by after the festival and life finally seemed to be going back to normal. The memory of what happened wasn’t an easy thing to handle but we were coping better than most. Kyle missed the first week for personal reasons but came back looking as good as ever. One afternoon we were sitting at Rose’s place having pizza after Classes and suddenly there was a loud bang on the door.

“Open up! It’s the police! We have some questions!”

I don’t know if all our hearts instantly sunk in that moment but we found ourselves frozen in place looking at eachother for solutions. I eventually stood up and approached the door. I opened slowly to see two cops from the local police department.

“I am officer Trent Turner and I’m here with regards to a recently opened missing persons case. Apparently the boy was last seen at the festival two weeks ago. Mind if I come In?”

“Sure officer, come in and have a seat here.”

I showed him to the living room where the girls were trying to act casual.

“Hello ladies, I trust all is well with you?”, he asked.

“Yes officer, uhmm is there a problem?”, Melinda replied.

“Well actually yes, at the moment all we have from this missing persons case is the identity of the boy and some information on his last whereabouts.”

“Who is he? Officer", I asked.

“The boy’s name is Larry Garnet. He was last seen at “The summer party of the year” festival two weeks ago. He hasn’t come home ever since. Here's a picture of him.”

As if flashbacks of that dead body started running through my head. I could see Rose and Melinda weren’t handling it well either.

“Ohhh, I’ve never seen him before officer", I said.

“Neither have I", Melinda responded swiftly after me.

“And what about you girly? You know this boy by any chance?”, he asked Rose.

“Uhh, uhm, no officer, I don’t", she answered nervously.

“Well then that’s just a shame. We’ve been looking around campus for someone who may know him. It seems like he had no friends at all. Poor boy. We got a team checking out the festival site as we speak. Maybe they’ll find something there.”

“Yeah hopefully", I replied.

“Anyways, I wont keep you guys any longer, thank you for your cooperation.”

“It’s a pleasure officer, goodluck with the investigation", Melinda hastily responded.

He exited the apartment and we all felt this overwhelming sense of relief.

“What the hell, why are the cops snooping around the campus?", Melinda asked.

“That kid must have been a student here. Sounds like he wasn’t well known though", I replied.

“Yeah, I hope that’s the first and last time officer Turner knocks at our door", Rose replied.

After getting a chance to calm down and have our lives finally go back to normal, suddenly within the space of a few minutes we were back to where we were on the cab ride home. With Kyle becoming an ever growing thought at the back of my head. I needed to go see him. Fast.
