I’ve done a lot of stupid stuff in my life. Most of the time I’d regret it directly afterwards and try as much as I could to make amends but this time that choice had been taken away from me.
My story continues the next morning as I woke up from one of the most hectic nights of my life.

“Ahh, hmmm, What? Am I in the parking?”, I asked myself.

I turned my head slightly and noticed Rose sleeping on my shoulder. Melinda wasn’t anywhere to be seen.

“Woah, what happened last night?”, I asked myself.

I probably would’ve asked a thousand more questions if Rose didn’t wake up suddenly.

“Carlos? Wow, we fell asleep here somehow",She said sounding a little oblivious to the events of the previous night.

Melinda came around the corner with two cups of water with ice and gave it to us.

“Oh you guys are up now, if you weren’t I was probably going to throw these on you, but now I guess you can drink them", she said sarcastically.

“Melinda, can you remember what happened last night?”, Rose asked looking confused.

“Haha, that’s a funny question, I remember everything from the moment we got here to when I woke up! Of course I don’t remember anything!", She said sarcastically.

“You feeling okay Carlos?”, Rose asked.

“Yeah I’m great, just feeling a little heavy, I’ll be fine.”

Melinda seemed a little anxious now. She was looking around almost as if she was looking for someone.

“We should probably get going now guys. I think I can get us a ride home.”

“We could just call a cab you know”, Rose said.

“I vote we should stop at Burger King either way, my stomach is feeling a little empty right now”, I mentioned.

A strange girl rushed around the corner.

“Guys come quick, we found something on the other side of the parking!”

Rose, Melinda and I rushed with the girl to find a large crowd gathered around something. We pushed through to the front and froze when we saw what had happened.

“Is that, a, d-dead body?”, Melinda asked.

Kyle had been investigating the scene.

“Yeah it is, nobody seems to know who it is though. It’s as if this kid was a ghost", he said.

Growing up in the neighborhood I lived in meant it was almost normal to see violence and at times even dead bodies around the area. The drug scene was very competitive and dealers were going to extreme measures to claim territory. As for Rose and Melinda, I could not say the same. They were clearly traumatized and almost sick from the sight of the body. I reached out and touched Kyle on the shoulder.

“Bro, shouldn’t we call the Cops or something?”

“No, no! We can’t, if they find out this happened at an event I was hosting, I’ll get into so much crap. I’ll lose my place on the football team, my Scholarship", He replied obviously panicking.

“So what should we do then?”, I asked.

“I’m not sure but I’ll figure it out, for now just go home and forget any of this happened, okay.”

“Okay, Hey guys let’s go.”, I suggested.

Rose, Melinda and I ended up calling a cab instead. The ride home was very tense. We all knew what we saw back at the festival site. We couldn’t just forget that it happened. None of us were okay. We were worried about Kyle in particular. He was such an easy going guy. You would never see him stressed out or nervous about anything. This was the first time. And he wasn’t taking it well at all. We arrived at Rose’s apartment and all dumped ourselves on the couches with a sigh of relief. There was a small part of us that felt unsafe at the festival but that was now gone. All that remained were the anxious feelings for our friend. For Rose and I, the confusion over what exactly had happened the previous night was all that remained.
