I grew up around crime. I grew up around criminals and bad people. I mean my father is in jail for being involved in criminal activity. So someone would say it should be in my blood right?
No. I could not wrap my head around the impending disaster we were slowly spiraling into. I needed to see Kyle before it was too late.

The next morning I rushed over to his house from Rose’s. I knocked on the door and he answered quite defensively.

“Hey! Who is that?”, he asked.

“Its me, Carlos!”, I replied.

“Oh okay, I’ll be there in a minute!”

He opened the door for me and invited me in. I was surprised to see several bags in his living room.

“Kyle, what’s going on?”

“I have to leave town for a while, I’m in a lot of trouble Carlos, you don’t understand what’s about to happen.”

“What’re you talking about?”

“Just know that I’ll be gone for a while! And don’t come looking for me!”

“Bro I’m just trying to help, what’s got you so scared?”

Kyle began to cry. This wasn’t like him at all. The pressure was becoming too much to handle.

“They found the body Carlos! They found the damn body! I thought I did enough to avoid this mess but now it’s all catching up to me.”

“Are you talking about the body we found at the festival?”

“The one and only", He sighed.

“Kyle, what did you do that day after we left?”

“Okay I guess I might as well come clean now while I can. So that day, after everyone left I took the body and wrapped it up in plastic. Then I took it a couple miles into the forest and dumped it off a ledge near a river. I had to come up with a fast solution Carlos and that was it. Now I’m done! Absolutely done! I have to leave before they find me!”

“Damn, this is a lot to take in. You better go though. I’ve got people back in Mountain view that could take care of you. Lay low for a while.”

“Thanks bro, I wont forget this", he said.

We embraced. And then he left. Faster than I’d ever seen anyone skip town. He was gone and I was the only one that knew where he was. I knew that day the moment kyle left the room I was officially involved. I wasn’t sure what the future held but one thing was for sure, we wouldn’t be seeing kyle for a very long time.
