"Ura! I...I need your help..." Sakata's hands were shaking as he spoke into his phone, he was desperate. Would the other even believe him when he told him about this? This whole situation was absurd..and near unbelievable; he himself probably would have a hard time believing if he heard it too. Now he was having second thoughts...but he needed to tell someone!
"If your kitchen is on fire again, the number you want to call is 119, not mine. I'm hanging up now-" Urata spoke calmly, ready to hang up the phone.
"W-wait! That's not it! Please..." Sakata tried again, hoping that perhaps the other would sense the desperation in his voice.
Thankfully, he did, or at least noticed something was off and sighed. "Go on. I'm listening."
"Thank you." Relaxing, almost as if the first time in days, Sakata laid his back against the wall his bed rested against and started with a question. "Ura, do you believe that time can somehow repeat itself?"
"I'm hanging up-"
"Wait! Let me explain more. Repeating as in, a day constantly repeating. Once you think the day ends, and the clock hits midnight, it actually just repeats that day all over again. Where you're stuck in an endless loop." Sakata finished his explanation and waited for the other to say something, anything to let him know he hadn't yet hung up the phone.
Urata sighed, and most likely pinched the bridge of his nose. "What kinds of books have you been reading lately? What kind of day is it anyway?"
"I-" Rather than explain, he thought it would be best to show the other. The only problem with that, is would Urata have memories the second time if he did show him? Crap he didn't think this through! Oh whatever. He still had to show him so he would get an idea. "Ura! Meet me this afternoon by the park downtown. I'll text you the exact time and place in the park later. You may see something...unpleasant, but whatever you do, please don't interfere. I can't explain properly without showing you."
Without allowing the other time to get one more word in, Sakata ended the call before Urata could say 'no' to his request and decided to drown himself in a nap before heading back out for his least favorite time of the past who knew how many days, after he had gotten that oh so happy phone call right after calling Urata, from his 'ex'.
~~~~
'I still don't understand why I agreed to do this.' Urata sighed to himself as he stood right where he was told in front of the park. He had gotten a text earlier from Sakata, a rather detailed one that explained everything he had to do and just from that, he could tell something was wrong. Sakata was an idiot yes, but he wasn't one to make jokes like Shima or Senra, their close friends and group members.
From The Idiot: Ura! I know this will sound weird, and once again, thank you for listening to me! I'm going to meet you there, and we're going to swap phones. Once it hits around 5pm, enter the park and start the video camera. Make sure to film yourself first, and once you see me again, turn the camera on me.
Truly an odd request. Sakata would owe him so much after this it wasn't even funny...Checking the time on his watch, Urata noticed it was near the time and nodded to himself, turning on Sakata's phone and entered in the pass code he knew by heart. It wasn't weird...right? They were best friends and all. Noticing the wallpaper on his phone, the brunet visibly cringed, biting down roughly on his bottom lip.
It was a picture of Sakata and his boyfriend...Lyx. Urata never liked the guy. He always had an aura around him that made him uncomfortable. He hated him from the moment he met the guy, but each time Sakata brought him around or talked about him, Urata would do his best to stay calm. It was what friends did...right?
Turning the video on, he faced the camera towards himself, and made a couple cute poses in an attempt to keep himself calm. "I do look good. Then again, I always look good~" He grinned into the camera, though paused as he noticed a familiar pair out of the corner of his eyes, and turned the phone to face them as he was instructed.
"Sakata, I don't love you anymore. We should break up."
Urata blinked his eyes once. Twice. Three times in shock, and had to fight every nerve in his body to keep from going over and punching this son of a bitch. Who the hell did he think he was to reject such a perfect being? Sure he was a little loud, and pretty dumb...and naive...But he had his good points too!
"I understand." Rather than fighting it, Sakata nodded with tears in his eyes. It wasn't as if fighting would get him anywhere. How many days had he tried to and got nowhere? He had lost track by now.
"Good. Goodbye Sakata." With that, Lyx was gone from the redheads' sight, and Sakata was left alone. His knees instantly gave out, and Urata rushed over as fast as he could, catching him with just one arm.
"Ah! Thank you Ura! I'm sorry you had to see that...did you get the video?" Sakata reached out for his phone, and widened his eyes in shock as he was pulled against Urata's chest and a calming hand was run through his hair.
"The video..you wanted to have it to show me tomorrow in case I forgot, and tried to accuse you of lying or something of the sort, right?" Urata questioned, turning the video off and slid the phone back into the redhead's hands.
Gasping, Sakata turned his head up to stare into Urata's eyes. "How did you know? Are you a mind reader?"
Rolling his eyes, Urata flicked Sakata on the forehead, earning a soft, "Ouch!" "No. It seemed the most logical thing." For the next moment, he fought the urge to both pull the other close to his chest and comfort him, or pull him away and let his 'tsundere' characteristics take over. "Sakata, please take me here tomorrow, just like you planned, and show me this video beforehand. I..." He couldn't promise that he would instantly remember his promise that he would now make to his friend, but he would sure as hell try his hardest.
"Sakata. I will bring you out of this loop, I promise. Somehow, someway. And I have an idea of how I'll do it." Urata confidently smirked to himself. He had faith, though he was hoping on a prayer.
Urata remembered, a long time ago in a book he read, with a plot similar to this, the ending went as follows. To pull the girl out from the loop she was stuck in, she needed to cast aside the feelings for the man she still held attachment towards and choose the one who was willing to break her free. Only then, could time return to normal.
The hope he was praying to, was that Sakata still held onto the crush he held for Urata years ago. It was an unspoken one between the both of them, yet he had heard of it from Senra. Urata hated the fact that he was never able to act on it, knowing this fact. Some stranger had beaten him to it. But now...now he was able to and only if the him of Sakata's tomorrow remembered all of this. He would have to be sure to write everything down in a notepad...he absolutely could not let this happen! He couldn't lose him again!
"Sakata, call me tomorrow, and tell me everything you said today. Show me the video, and tell me to look at the notepad on my phone." The elder commanded, helping Sakata to stand by himself, nervously coughing and turning his head away once their contact broke.
"Why the notepad?" Sakata tilted his head to the side, utterly confused.
"Not important! Anyway, goodnight!" Before Sakata could say anything else, the shorter of the two ran off as fast as he could, leaving the other behind to wonder what that was all about.
~~~~
The next morning, when Sakata awoke, he checked his clock and sighed as it still showed the same date that haunted him and threw on his clothes for the day. May 14th. He desperately hoped that date wouldn't haunt him forever. Remembering what Urata had said the day before, he brightened up with a smile and immediately called Urata, repeating everything he had said the day before, still confused about the addition of the notepad but made absolutely sure to add it in.
"Watch the video I'm sending you too! And then meet me at the address I will send you in just a few!" With that, Sakata hung up the phone, giggling at Urata's distressed whine and nervously hit send on the video Urata took the day prior and texted the address. He was grateful that his brain had at least one smart idea with taking the video on his own phone so it didn't magically reset like Urata's would...for some ungodly reason.
~~~~
Once the texts flew in, Urata stared down at his phone, sighed, and opened the video. This had something to do with this whole, time...loop thing Sakata was trying to tell him about, right? Perhaps it could explain it better? But what if it was all just Sakata playing a prank on him? He didn't remember any of this.
As the video started, he laughed as the part where he played around with the camera played though immediately froze. Wait just a moment. He didn't remember this...he let the video keep playing until the part where Sakata and his boyfriend appeared and immediately felt like tossing his phone across the room. A similar reaction to what he had when he first witnessed the scene. That bastard dared-And he didn't even remember this? And Sakata had to live through this...stuck in a loop? Clenching his fists, Urata remembered the last part of the text, the part about his notepad and brought that up.
Oi. Before you get confused, and threaten to punch the guy I have a better idea. I'm writing this to myself before I forget to hopefully jog up my memories when I read this...will this even work? Anyway! To break him out of the loop, he has to shake off his connection with that Lyx guy, right? And you still have a lingering crush on him from before? Stop lying to yourself, it's old and depressing. He obviously likes you-liked at least. Maybe a part of him still does somewhere. Ask him to forget about that piece of garbage.
Ask him to choose you.
Then, he'll be freed. Simple right? Damn right. I come up with only the best ideas. Now stop reading this and let's go.
With this, Urata understood what he had to do. He would save Sakata from this nightmare he was stuck in...he would save him, and he would give him some peace of mind.
"Sakata, I don't love you anymore. We should break up."
Sakata flinched. No matter how many times he heard those words, it still hurt him. Yet this time, before he was given the chance to speak anything in return, a familiar voice spoke up from behind him.
Urata.
"Sakata. Rather than cry over some dumb loser who doesn't even, hasn't even cared about you before, why don't you find someone better." The shorter male approached him with a soft smile.
Confused, Sakata tilted his head to the side. "I don't understand? What do you mean-" Before he could finish, he was interrupted.
"Just choose me. Forget about him. Forget about the one who made you cry, who forced you into an endless loop because your emotions were so messed up. The guy who couldn't even spare you a reason why he decided to do this." Urata sent Lyx the most deadly glare he could, one that sent shivers down the man's spine.
"I'll just...be leaving now then..." Lyx started and immediately started running away in the opposite direction.
Both Sakata and Urata turned to watch Lyx run away, then turned to face each other before breaking out into laughter.
"Yes." Sakata answered out of nowhere.
"Eh?" Urata responded, momentarily confused.
"Your...what you said. Yes." Sakata nervously scratched his cheek, then immediately bowed forward in front of Urata. "Ura! I have had a crush on you for a while! I would love it, if you would be my boyfriend!"
Urata rolled his eyes and gently bumped his fist against Sakata's head. "Idiot...what did you think I was asking when I said that?" While he spoke, his face turned a bright pink.
After a few seconds of his brain processing this, Sakata's own face lit up the same shade of pink and he immediately enveloped Urata into a hug. "I love you!"
"You-How can you say that right after getting dumped?" The brunet tried to push the other off him, but only fought it for a few seconds before accepting his fate. "Fine. I'll accept this...but only because you've been through so much! After today, don't expect the same!"
"But you're my boyfriend now!" Sakata whined, only clinging tighter. "No fair!~"
"No buts!" Urata, ever the tsundere continued to fight as they made their way home.
Luckily, as he had expected, the next day, the date had finally changed and Sakata was broken free from his curse of being stuck in an endless cycle.
