The pathway in front of me curled into an infinite darkness and despair. Yet, turning back was not an option. Turning back meant death.
The light that showed the way out faltered in my eyes. Loud shouts heard from behind me made my skin shudder with fear. I could feel my brain start to defocus as I tried searching for a way for us to escape unscathed. My heart thuds loudly in my eardrums, more than I wished. Blood drips down my bandaged leg and forehead.
"Let me help!" a sweet little voice calls out to me.
If it hadn't been for the small child in my arms I'd be unconscious by now. But for his sake and mine I can't give up, I simply can't. I must protect him... at all costs.
"Not now, you're in no condition to use your quirk." I protest holding him closer to me. I eye the blood dripping down his own leg, a small bloody hole on his skin similar to mine. But of course I would know, I made that injury on him and I.
"But you're using—"
"It doesn't matter, keep quiet. We're almost out." I say taking in a desperate breath.
I can faintly hear the sound of glass shattering in somewhat far distance. A couple of familiar voices shouting out not our names but how our father has dubbed us by since our birth.
"You heard the boss! Don't let 5-1 and 5-2 escape!" Shouted one of our keepers.
My breathing became harder, my head was pounding. I came to an abrupt stop as I slammed the door open, revealing two guards ready to attack us.
"Oi, little lady you're quite the troublemaker, for your own safety and that child in your arms it would be wise of you to step down and return to your room." warned the man with a scar on his neck.
The other man standing beside him, the man with olive hair sent me a scowl as he informed his comrade, "Don't let your guard down, this girl's a monster."
Ah, that's right... I am a monster. To these people I am. I'm a mere creation to them despite the fact that I'm not. I'm a human like any other but with a darkness imbedded in my body since birth. If they want to call me a monster, I might as well show them right?
Hearing the footsteps that followed me from behind approaching, it was no or never, "You scumbags leave me no choice!" I shouted as I activated my quirk.
I covered the little ones eyes with my hand as I watched their bodies become immobilized and how they struggled to breathe within the bubble shield around their face. Their bodies dropped like flies who had been sprayed with poison.
Stepping aside their bodies, which were most likely dead, I took on glance at the horrendous doorway and made sure of locking the doors from the outside, using the other part of my quirk. I could feel more blood oozing out of me. I ran as fast as I could until I made it out to the port at Chiba in Tokyo Bay.
"I'm using it, you can't keep running anymore... please," he cried.
I weakly nodded as I collapsed on my knees. My eyes barely even blinked when I realized he had teleported us to Kyoto. But as we had arrived, the both of us had lost total consciousness. Death watching us below and life watching from above. Would we survive? We had no idea, but as long as he was out there, it was sure to say we would not.
Several days, we woke up in an unknown house. An older woman, perhaps around her mid-forties was tending to our wounds, precisely mine more than the young boy accompanying me. My eyes jolted wide open as I gasped for a breath of air.
"Where am I? Where's Hiro? Hiroki??!" I shouted with a slur.
"The child is fine, you my dear on the other hand need to take it easy, you suffered many injuries, and much blood loss. I was afraid I couldn't heal you in time. Luckily everything is fine now, there's no permanent damage." The lady explained with a kind tone.
