Long Time No See

Chapter 23

The group of hedgehogs stayed silent. No one knew what to say. Sonic and Shadow had hard blushes on their faces while Sonic's parents faces were unreadable.

"Mom, Dad, I was going to-"

"Sonic, we'll talk about this in the morning. Just go to bed." Jules spoke.

Sonic did not see a point in arguing so he nodded and stood up. He looked back at Shadow.

Shadow gave him an apologetic look.

Sonic then left to his own room. His parents left the room as well and shut the door.

Shadow couldn't help but feel like this was his fault. But there was nothing he could do right at this moment. 'I'm so sorry Sonic.' He thought as he got into bed and struggled to fall asleep.

(With Sonic)

Sonic made it to his room and shut the door. He went to his bed and started to freak out. Tears came to his eyes and his heart started to race. He tried to get his breathing under control but he found it close to impossible.

'This is horrible, now they're never going to except me now!' Sonic thought gripping his quills.

(The next morning)

Sonic didn't sleep at all, he was too worried about what his parents were gonna say to him. But he got up anyway and got dressed. He slipped on a sky blue hoodie with black sweats.

He heard a knock on his door.

"Sonic?" A voice called. It was Shadow!

Sonic went to his door and opened it. It revealed a worried Shadow wearing a white sweater and grey pants with tears in his eyes.

"Sonic I'm so sorry, this is all my fault!" Shadow pleaded.

Sonic hugged him tight. "It's not your fault Shadow. If anything it was my fault for not being more careful. You'll still be by my side no matter what happens right?" Sonic asked starting to panic again.

Shadow hugged him back. "Of course I will. No matter what."

Sonic kissed Shadow on the forehead. "I love you so much."

"I love you too." Shadow replied.

Sonic let go of Shadow and took a deep breath.

"Okay, let's go see what happen now." Sonic sighed.

Shadow nodded and followed him.

Sonic's parents were sitting on the couch watching TV when Sonic and Shadow were walking out.

"Now that you both are up, explain what we saw last night." Bernadette demanded.

Sonic took another deep breath and started to speak. "Mom, Dad, I know what you saw might have shocked you and made you change the way you look at me. But I promise I'm the same good natured son that you raised. Nothing's changed. I swear I was going to tell you the truth, but I was gonna wait till the break was almost over incase you did want to see me anymore. But after what you saw last night, I have to tell you now. I'm gay. And not just that, but I love Shadow. He's the one I want to be with and not a girl. I hope this doesn't change anything because I still love you guys." Sonic explained and took a hold of Shadow's hand.

Sonic couldn't read his parents faces. Each minute that passed just built more stress for him.

But after a few minutes, both of his parents stood up and walked towards their son. But they had smiles on their faces.

"Sonic, you really thought we would disown you? We love you honey." Bernadette stated.

Sonic gave a shocked face but tears started coming to his eyes. "So you guys don't mind that I'm gay?"

"Of course not Sonic, we knew as you were growing up. You were never into girls and always avoided them. We were just waiting for you to tell us when you were ready." Jules explained.

Happy and relieved tears flowed from Sonic's eyes. His parents hugged him tight and pulled Shadow into their hug as well. After awhile they let go and took a look at Shadow.

"Then I guess a welcome to the family is in order. But you better take care of our son Shadow." Jules spoke.

"I will sir, I promise." Shadow answered.

"Great, now lets go out for breakfast." Bernadette suggested.

The house of hedgehogs agreed. Bernadette and Jules made there way to the car. But Sonic and Shadow stayed behind for a minute.

They were so happy they were allowed to be together. The looked at each other and kissed. Soon after they broke it.

"Are you okay now?" Shadow asked.

"I'm better than okay." Sonic replied kissing his boyfriend again.
