Chapter 19

After the set up was finally over. The three hedgehogs went to get breakfast. As they ate, Silver and Sonic noticed that Shadow was really quiet. They didn't dare ask him how he felt while they were in the restaurant.

After about of hour, Silver has gone to back to his room to catch up on homework. Sonic and Shadow had finally made it back to their room.

Shadow sat on his bed and stayed silent.

Sonic sat next to him. "How do you feel? Sad? Happy? Tell me." Sonic spoke.

Shadow's gaze was down. But suddenly he started laughing.

"Shadow?" Sonic spoke with a confused voice.

Shadow laughter grew louder but tears were still running down his face. "H-He's really gone." Shadow laughed.

"Shadow, do I need to-"

"He's really gone Sonic! I'm free from his abuse! I can move on and live my life!" Shadow laughed as he still cried.

Sonic sat in silence. He realized Shadow was breaking down.

Shadow touched his face and felt his tears. His smile disappeared. "T-Then why am I crying? I-I should be happy right? He guy who cause me so much pain is out of my life forever...t-then w-why am I...W-Why do I miss him..." Shadow began to cry.

Sonic wrapped his arms around him once more.

Shadow cried his heart out. "W-Why does hurt so bad! I don't want this!" He cried.

Sonic held Shadow tight. "I know Shadow, I know." He stroked Shadow's back. He began to rock the heart broken hedgehog back and forth.

"H-He was right...I'm a desperate freak! I-I was so ready to start my new life that I-I fell for the first person who was kind to me! H-He beat me and I stayed. He raped me and I stayed! I'm so stupid!-"

"Stop that!" Sonic shouted. He held Shadow's shoulders and looked him straight in the eyes. "I don't want to here you bag on yourself anymore! Part of you did love him, you were in love with him. He preyed on you because you were willing to see the good in him! That is not stupidity! It's a gift! You wanted to believe there was good in him, so you stayed. But in the end, he didn't. I'm sorry that you're hurting right now, but there is no reason for you to say all these things about yourself Shadow! You are the most kind, generous, strong, and beautiful hedgehog I know! And you deserve so much better than him!"

Shadow sat there and shook. But his heart rate started to race. His face flashed a bright shade of red.

Sonic realized the last of what he said. His face flowed pink and let go of Shadow. "I-I'm sorry, I just...*sigh* never mind."

Shadow thought about what Scourge said before he got taken away. About Sonic wanting him to himself. 'Was Scourge right about Sonic? Does he really have feelings for me?'

"Anyway, do you have plans for fall break?" Sonic asked to break the silence.

"Um, no. I was just gonna stay on campus. I-I don't exactly have anywhere else to go. Why?" Shadow answered as his blush started to fade.

"Well, I know you've been through a lot and I was wondering if you would want to come with me to my home town for fall break. To get away from all this? There's an extra room at my parents house since Tails moved onto his college's campus. And he has to stay there for an important project.

"Are you sure it's okay? Your parents don't mind?" Shadow asked.

"Yeah, I called them to make they knew I was coming home for the break and I asked them if it was okay, if you said yes, for you to come with me. They're perfectly fine with it. Actually, they said they'd be happy to met you." Sonic explained.

Shadow's blush came back as he thought about the offer.

"So, do you want come with me?"

"Sure."

Sonic smiled as he stood up. "Great, now I have to start packing my back. You should probably do the same. We'll have a lot of driving to tomorrow."

"Okay." Shadow replied.

Sonic went to his closest and pulled out his suitcase. He start to pack a few sets of clothes.

Shadow started to do the same.
