“Bring me a bottle of water baby!” I yelled to Beyonce as she walked to the kitchen. She had been at my house for the past week and that was all good with me. Before then, she was staying at her mama’s house to study for her exams. We had just come back in from doing a 3 mile run and I was exhausted. For the past few days, all of my exercise came from the bedroom only since Beyonce and I had to make up for lost time. She more than made up for her absence when she showed up with a grab bag full of treats last week. She bought everything from whipped cream to edible underwear and we used it all. I was determined to make her stay here as long as possible this time. “Here you go,” Beyonce said, handing me a bottle of water. “I’m going to take a shower,” she announced while attempting to walk away. “Wait, let me talk to you for a minute,” I replied. She came and sat down next to me on the sofa and turned on the TV. Something was bothering me and I wanted to talk to her about it. I wasn’t the type to keep my feelings to myself so I put it out there. “Why didn’t you tell me that Tori and your ex are cousins?” I asked her. She looked away before answering me. I’m sure she was wondering how I found out. “I didn’t think it was that important,” she replied. “That’s not the point. When I asked you how you knew her you should have said something then. You make me think you have something to hide,” I said looking at her. “I don’t have anything to hide. I told you everything you wanted to know,” she said. “No, you told me everything you wanted me to know.” She looked like I hurt her feelings, but I had to speak my mind. I was always taught to never keep my feelings bottled up because it only made matters worse. I pulled her onto my lap and hugged her around her waist as I spoke. “I’m not trying to hurt your feelings baby, but I need us to be open and honest with each other. I don’t keep anything from you and I don’t want you to start hiding stuff from me,” I said. Beyonce was someone that I wanted to build a future with, but we couldn’t build a future based on lies. “I know and I’m sorry, but I wasn’t trying to hide it from you. Jay is my past and I don’t want him nowhere in my future,” she said looking at me. I understood that because I felt the same way about a few people in my life and Kayla was one of them. “I understand. As long as we’re on the same page, I’m cool,” I said kissing her lips. “We’re on the same page,” she replied, standing to her feet. She headed for the stairs, but stopped before she went up. “Who told you that Jay and Tori were cousins?” She asked me. I knew that was coming. After the speech I just gave her, I didn’t have a choice other than to tell the truth. “Tori told me,” I answered. Damn, I hated to rat ole girl out, but I really didn’t have a choice. “I thought so,” she said frowning. “Wait!” I said, standing to my feet. I didn’t need her to be involved with no foolishness with Tori. It really wasn’t that serious. “Leave that alone. She thought I already knew. That’s the only reason why she mentioned it.” She put her hand on her hip and looked at me like I was crazy. “You are not blind and you’re far from stupid. Her ass told you that because she is messy. I don’t even know why I’m surprised. She keeps up bullshit in her own family so I know I’m nobody special. She’s feeling you and everybody can see it but you!” She said angrily. I could tell that Tori had a lil crush on me, but that was as far as it would go. She wasn’t my type at all. “I can’t wait to see her messy ass!” She said before stomping up the stairs. Beyonce was the sweetest person in the world until somebody pissed her off. I finished my bottle of water and turned off the TV before going upstairs behind her. “You are too pretty to be out there with all that fighting and stuff. Not to mention that shit is childish,” I said when I walked into the bedroom. “Who said anything about fighting? I just said I can’t wait to see her,” she replied with a smirk. I knew that look well enough to know that this was far from over. “You getting in the shower with me?” She asked, smiling. “Don’t try to change the subject,” I said, looking at her as she started undressing. Tori and nobody else was on my mind right now. That body was enough to make me forget about everything and everybody. “That’s cool, I can shower by myself,” she said as she walked into the master bathroom naked. I damn sure wasn’t about to let that happen. I started taking my clothes off as fast as I could so I could join her. This was why I hated it when she left. I was walking towards the bathroom when my phone started ringing. I almost ignored it, but I didn’t. Me and my pops had been bidding on a few properties and I didn’t want to miss any calls. I had to do a double take when I saw Kayla’s number show up. It wasn’t saved in my phone anymore, but I still recognized it. I had no idea what she wanted, but I was damn sure going to find out. Beyonce would have a fit if she knew Kayla was calling my phone. I heard the shower turn on and I was happy for the distraction. The running water was loud enough to drown out the sound of my ringing phone. “Hello?” I said in a whisper. “Hey M, how are you doing?” She asked like it was cool for her to be calling me. “I’m good Kayla, but what do you want?” I didn’t mean to be rude, but she was crossing the line. “Oh, um, my mama wanted me to call you about some property. She’s thinking about expanding her business and she’s looking for a bigger place,” she said. I was happy to hear that she was calling about business, but it still wasn’t a good look for her to be calling me on my personal phone. I had a business line that she was more than welcomed to call. As a matter of fact, it might be best for her and her family to deal with my pops. I didn’t want or need no more drama between me and Beyonce. “That’s cool, but let me give you my daddy’s number. He can talk to you about what we have available,” I said, trying to rush her off the phone. “I just called him and he told me to call you,” she said laughing. “Damn!” I thought to myself. I made a mental note to ask him about that shit. He knew she was the last person I wanted to see. “Alright, but next time you need to call on my business line. I have a girl and I don’t want any drama with you calling on my personal line,” I said. “Oh, I’m sorry. I’m not trying to cause trouble for y’all. I’ll make sure to call your other phone from now on,” she said. “Cool, tell your mama, I’ll get in touch with her sometime tomorrow. We can talk more about it then,” I said before hanging up. I erased her number and prepared to take a shower with my baby. I wasn’t trying to hide anything, but I didn’t know how I was going to handle the situation. No matter what I said, Beyonce was not going to be cool with me working with Kayla. At the same time, I couldn’t turn away a potential client. I just went in on her about keeping things from me and here I was doing the exact same thing. I made my way to the shower and forgot about it for the time being. I just hoped my decision didn’t come back to bite me in the ass later.
