Picture of Ellie ----------------------->
*Mads POV*
So far the dinner party had been good. Introductions went well and everyone wanted to talk to Ellie, keeping attention away from Josh and me. We sat beside each other quietly throughout dinner, only answering question when needed. I wasn’t really in the party mood and apparently neither was Josh.
“We need to get out of here,” I whispered to Josh. He nodded in agreement.
“Come on kids we’re going to play Pictionary! Don’t worry Mads your friend can be on your team,” Aunt Julie said cheerfully.
“Why don’t you guys play without us? I don’t think Josh is feeling very well,” I replied sweetly.
“Wha-“ Josh started but I elbowed him in the gut. “Yeah I think I’m coming down with something,” Josh said.
“What’s that Madeline?” Mom asked. She’d been calling me Madeline all night long.
“I was just saying I don’t think Josh is feeling to well,” I said.
“So?” I hate her so much.
“I think I should take him home,”
“But didn’t Matt drive you here?”
“It’s called a taxi mother,” I snapped.
“He’ll be fine. Surely Aunt Julie has something”
“That I do! I’ll be right back,” Aunt Julie said. She hurried away into the bathroom.
“See we’ll get some meds in you and you’ll be as good as new!” Mum said cheerfully. I wanted to slap that fake smile off her face.
“Just like the Botox in your face makes you look younger?” I snarled. Her smile faded. There that slapped the smile off her face. She leaned closer and slapped me across the face. I held my hand to my cheek.
“Don’t talk back to me young lady!” I stood up and got in her face.
“What’re you gunna do? Hit me again? Cause if I’m not mistaken that’s child abuse,” I yelled.
“Good then maybe you’ll be out of my life you worthless excuse of a daughter,” There were multiple gasps from our family members.
“Then maybe I’d have a mother who doesn’t sleep with the entire male population!”
“I’m glad your father did what he did to you,” Now it was my turn to slap her. Multiple family members grabbed mums arms and pulled her away from me. When she was gone I turned and wrapped my arms around Josh.
“I hate her, I hate her so much,” I sobbed. Josh held me close and stroked my hair.
“I know, I hate her too. Come on let’s get a taxi,” Josh said.
“I’ll drive us all home,” Matt said, Ellie right behind him. The four of us walked out of Aunt Julie’s house and to Matt’s car.
“Wait I want to do something first,” I said. Matt, Ellie, and Josh watched me walk over to one of the rocks in Aunt Julie’s lawn, pick it up, then slam it down on mum’s car. “Maybe she’ll have to stay here now,” We got in Matt’s car, not one word spoken to each other as we drove home. Matt dropped Ellie off at her house and apologized about what had happened. As we stepped into the house we still hadn’t said anything to each other. Josh and I walked up to my room, and Matt stayed downstairs.
