I blinked open my eyes and look around. I felt like a kit again, all my aspects the same as then. I looked around trying to find my mother Spottedleaf. Instead I see 3 cats sitting next to me an orange, a yellow gray, and a gray pelt. I looked to where they were standing in a circle around a moist ginger bundle and I remember who I was and where I was.
I stood up slowly trying not to surprise them. Padding over to Cinderpaw's side I lay down slowly next to Lionkit, taking away my energy. I nudged Lionkit with my muzzle and he doesn't budge. More determined I nudge him harder. "He's gone." Yellowfang murmured. "NO!" I croak, dragging Lionkit closer to me, shutting my eyes tight, hoping to wake up to a dream still in the nursery.
I feel movement as I tighten my grip. "There's no hope." Yellowfang meows brushing her tail over my flank. I don't even listen as Bluestar assembles the clan telling them what happened. I pad out of the medicine den, holding Lionkit's limp body in my jaws. I gingerly set him down, as pink and orange light filled the sky as Starpelt came into the sky.
I rested my head close to Lionkit's licking his head as cats rubbed lavender over his body. Spottedkit huddled next to me, sharing my warmth, as Cloudkit went to the other side next to Fireheart.
I looked up at the moon, at it's highest point in the sky. Then back at Lionkit. I closed my eyes, wrapping my tail around Spottedkit.
The first rays of sunlight were approaching as I heard a cough, jolting me from sleep. Some liquid hit my face as I opened my eyes. The bundle of orange fur was squirming around coughing up river water. I gasp, pressing my paws on his chest to help it come out.
I jump up trudging through the snow to the herb store, pawing through herbs. Yarrow, yarrow, yarrow...yarrow! I picked up a leaf, tearing it in half. I ran back to Lionkit who was still sputtering water. Picking him up by the scruff, I dragged him to the dirt-place, forcing small yarrow pieces down his throat.
The effect was instantaneous. Lionkit started vomiting up water. When he stopped, I brought him to the center of camp purring with relief. My kit wasn't dead! Fireheart jerked his head up. "Whe- Oh my MOUSE!" He yowled waking up the whole camp. Spottedkit started jumping around Lionkit pawing at his ears every few rounds.
Cinderpaw came out of the medicine den, yawning. "Why were-impossible.." She meowed watching Lionkit. "How?" She murmured to herself. Yellowfang followed, surprised and started looking over Lionkit.
Fireheart stands as light fills the camp, walking over to the apprentices den to wake Branpaw up, to go out for training. As they leave, Grastripe comes from the dirtplace tunnel. "What happened?" I flicked my tail to where Lionkit was playing with Cloudkit and Spottedkit.
Brakenpaw padded into the clearing dragging a plump rabbit. He was beaming. "Where's Graystripe?" He asked looking around camp. Fireheart followed happily. "I want to show him what I caught..." Brakenpaw meowed. Fireheart looked sadly at him. "That's huge!" Cinderpaw meows limping through the snow where her brother was. "How did you catch that? It's leafbare and-" Squeals of kits broke off Cinderpaw's words.
"Can I see? Can I try? That's HUGE! How'd you catch it? Can you teach me? Your amazing!" They rambled in squeaky voices, jumping around him. I purred with laughter, walking over. Lionkit was so active! He was on the verge of death and then he is jumping around like all of ShadowClan is attacking...so weird.
Brakenpaw walked over to the apprentice's den and called to the kits, "Come on, it's warmer here than in the snow." The kits jumped off after him plunging into the snow every so often.
