Part 9: Rough Waters

Brook's Point of View...
As I was trying to take a stubborn, injured half dragon to see the doctor I found a few things out along the way about what had happened after they'd left. First things first. The island had moved so it was about 4 weeks by boat away. About 3 weeks and a couple of days at sea there was a surprise attack from out of no where. Mostly everyone was asleep and those that were on duty fought valiantly. There was simply too many. It was 2 galleons, and 2 shallops against a fancy icebreaker, carvel hybrid. Most were seriously injured and a few died. But they left the other brothers barely alive and forced a devil fruit down Sparhawks throat before leaving and saying that she'd marry their brother when she was 22 or else. I asked him who? There was a clear idea in my mind but I needed to know for sure.

"It was the Vinsmokes. Somehow they found out... Sparhawk wanted to break off the engagement... and they... wanted to make her pay." Derek responded between gasps. "We managed to escape with her... to safety... but thought you should know. Then Derek passed out."

Some time later...
Once Derek's injuries were mostly healed we had some time to talk about a solution. We planned and had the wedding thinking that we could stop the engagement. So it maybe get back at them somehow without sinking to their level. The 2 of us weren't coming up with a lot of good ideas. They were mostly about fighting it out or trying to soothe them and make them forget about it.

Soon Sparhawk came in with a limp. Her kneecap had healed rather quickly but it was her pulled muscles in her leg that had her limping. She told us don't tell Ben or the others that she was up and about or they'd worry.

"Well, I'm worried. I don't want you to further injure yourself." I said with concern. "But I'm glad to see you. Maybe you can help us figure out what to do about the Vinsmokes. Your brothers and their crew had trouble in that unfair fight. Not to mention you were forced to eat a devil fruit and injured fairly bad. Also have you figured out more of what you can do yet?"

She started off with that she can change her body structure to an extent, mend broken bones, and make bones. Though making bones out of almost nothing did tire her out depending how much she made and the quality of the bones. And changing her body structure made her muscles sore. She hadn't figured out anything else she could do though. Mine just robbed me of my ability to swim for the time being. Til I died that was.

Then she continued. "There may be a way to give the Vinsmokes what they want without me actually having to marry the one son. I've given this some thought and hear me out. Maybe I should marry him."

"What are you thinking?" I interrupted. "First off we're already married and his brothers have already abused you. Next, they tried to get at you at the ball. Then..."

Sparhawk's Point of View...
"I get it, I get it." I interrupted in response. "Like I said earlier hear me out first. Based on what I've experienced combined with rumors they will come after anyone who gets in their way. That includes you, your father, who by the way is somewhat still bedridden, and this kingdom. My plan involves leaving no one behind to die if we can help it."

"So let's start off with I'm going to pretend to go through with the wedding in a year's time. Act like I'm actually going through with it. Then we have it so that they have to give up on me. Possibly try to figure out the reason why they're so intent on me marrying into the family. Whether they made some sort of arrangement with my mother or they somehow found out about the information on the island. There's also some of the stuff my brothers have made that might be of use." I said. "I know it's not much of a plan yet but we have about a year to plan this."

"Until then we can prepare ourselves, so as not to be caught off guard. Get a hold of the knowledge we can and try to use it against them. They're originally from the North Blue so it's not going to be easy except for what the World Government has shared with the public like that comic. And not everyone knows about that." I stated. "If we can't collect enough information though we have to make do."
