Part 12: Looking to the Future

Sparhawk's Point of View...
It was hard to breathe and my vision came back with a headache. I honestly need to stop getting knocked out. There's a mixture of colours until I see the red of Derek's back as a dragon and nearly fall off. Then I see Brook still taking a break in snoozeville and wake him up. He starts freaking out because he's suprised and usually hates riding on Derek's back when he's like this. I quickly grab him so he's right behind me holding on.

Coot and Kestrel fly over to me to check how I'm doing and Jackdaw nods his little crow head. Derek mentally says to me once the other 3 are done, "You're finally awake. Good to see you calmed down after that."

"Yeah, yeah. We need to go back see how everyone else is." I replied still a little groggy.

"Not going to happen." Kureha interrupted just as I notice her. "You all need looking after and your nephew needs someone to look after him now. Can't be me either I'm not fond of kids but he trusts me."

"Kureha we're talking about going back after this. Brook what's your take on it?" I turn to Brook and ask. "It's my fault he's an orphan now and he is Ben's kid. I do owe it to him. Plus he's only 3."

Brook hesitated. Then said, "I'd be happy to take him in and help you raise him. Honestly I'd like for you to explain everything first. But before that we should head back to my kingdom and make a plan."

"I agree with the human tree." Derek joked to me mentally. It made me laugh a bit.

Brook asked. "What's so funny? Did Derek say something to mock how I look? It's not funny whatever he said."

I looked back and he was pouting a bit. Then I laughed harder before I said, "He did but he also was agreeing with you." I kissed him quick on the cheek giving him a smile and ended up making him babble a bit before calming down and blushing a lot. I manage to stop my laughing and get serious.

"Let's head home and take a few days rest. We can settle Jay in without suffocating or spoiling him." I stated. "He reminds me a lot more of a Bluejay than Benjamin did too. Once he's settled we'll tell you what we know. Depending on your response we'll make a plan or we'll walk out of your life forever with Jay in tow."

Back at the castle in Brook's kingdom some time later...
We made sure we were in a safe part of the castle where no one would overhear us. I told Brook pretty much everything. Mine and Derek's childhood before him in more detail. Why I had scars on my back that were years old and how I got them from my mother. That there was a strong connection to the ancient kingdom other than just the ancient weapon. I told him about the last poneglyph that combined with the other three would lead to Raftel (Laughtale). There was also an information Poneglyph I was aware of that held the secrets of the ancient weapon Uranus. I kept talking with him for a while. There was hardly anything I didn't mention.

It was easy to tell that it wasn't easy for him to process. I told, "You can take a couple days to process but I need to check on my other brothers. See if those that were alive when we left stayed that way. Along with any of the civilians that got caught in the crossfire."

A couple days later... Brook's Point of View...
The past few days have been crazy, much less the last two days. All the things that happened before I met these people. Then the stuff that happened when I was there and rarely even knew about it. The secrets that were in that castle and the island. I was processing years worth of information in what seemed like the blink of an eye.

My mind was made up. While Kureha was annoying the other doctors I went to meet Derek, Sparhawk, and the others. They were packing some medical supplies, water, food, and some other essentials. I stop in my tracks before getting any closer and sigh. There was so much more to her than I ever realized. She still soon noticed I was there and walked over.
