It's pretty rare to find a FanFiction mainly about Brook from One Piece almost anywhere. Since he's my favorite character from the One Piece series I thought I'd do one about him. Though this story mainly focuses on a childhood friend I created for...
I was a little surprised that he remembered me. It had been 3 and a half years since he last sent me a letter. 6 months after we had last seen each other when he sent me off at the docks. What it said was he was learning sword techniques from the palace guards. Even some from his father personally. He also talked about day to day things. Other than that though this was the first I had heard from him. My brothers Honey and Iceland gave the invite to me personally.
The 2 of them asked if I was going to go and win my man. I told them, "He isn't my man. Just a good friend I haven't heard from or seen in a few years. It's not like he remembers me before his head injury anyway. Only the few months we spent together afterwards. Though I wouldn't mind seeing him for just a few minutes. Besides he'll probably pick someone else anyway."
Then they get a look in their eyes and said in unison, "We know exactly what to do." They put a bag over my head, tied my wrists, and threw me over Honey's shoulder. I could tell because of the kind of shirt he was wearing. Too chicken to fight me the damn assholes. When they finally untied me and took the bag off my head I was on my brothers pirate ship.
"We have something for you so you can go to that ball and win Brook's heart." Lapwing stated before running off to get it. As Lapwing brings out the dress something made a fireball hit the side of the ship. Guess who it was. It was Derek in his dragon form with Grizzles on his back because they thought I was being kidnapped by a bunch of pirates. Which in all honesty was true to an extent. Lapwing quickly ran back inside the ship to put the dress away safe before he decided to get to the canons. Which he did after the initial shock of seeing a dragon. Then seeing the ridiculousness of seeing a polar bear on his back they started to get into action. They all managed to put the fire out fast though.
My brothers are nuts. I thought to myself. They're all being too loud so it's likely they won't hear me. So when Derek flew by to drop Grizzles on the deck of the ship I talked him down. Then before Arrow, Coot, and Daniel could attack him I pulled him off the ship and managed to get in the water and have Derek grab us shortly after. When he started flying away I asked Derek, "Was Ben too busy that he couldn't come? Cause honestly it would have saved some time. Those are my 11 other brothers and their crew. You want to go back and help me explain this misunderstanding before you go get Ben and his apprentice for me please?"
I eventually got him to agree to go back but only if Ben was at least there. So we grabbed him brought him back. Once me Grizzles and Ben were off his back Derek looped around then midair he changed back into human form and landed on the deck with little effort. Then me and Ben explained that Derek had been raised together long before I knew about any of them so he was basically my brother. The Grizzles situation we explained in much the same manner. Finally we explained that Grizzles and Derek thought I was being kidnapped and the guys on the ship were trying to protect me.
After that I was just like, "Lapwing where's this dress you were going to show me for the ball?" He and Daniel ran off to get it. When they comes back with it it's this beautiful but simple black dress with red touches here and there. Then the mask was a fitted black mask with red lining around it along with a head piece with crows feathers. I said, "Guess I'll go and try it on.

Pretty much everyone's jaws dropped when I got back with the dress on. Lapwing had a big smile on his face and said, "My work here is down let's get you to that ball."
Two weeks later the night of the ball... Brook's Point of View... I knew my father wanted me to take over the throne soon and have a wife when I did. He was very sick, at his age he might not make it and he didn't want me to be alone. He'd been the one to send the letters out to all the eligible ladies that could be my confidant and be the best fit for the throne. There'd be ties with whatever country or noble house they were from. In the end though I was told it was my choice. If I didn't like any of the women there then I didn't have to marry them. I don't know if an invitation was sent to her or not, I hadn't heard from her in years but there was one woman who was the world to me that I wanted to walk through those doors.
As I was dancing with another suitor suddenly, a woman came in. She glided up to me and my partner and asked if she could cut in. I politely let her. Everything about her reminded me of someone but I couldn't quite place who. Due to her mask hiding the colour of her eyes though it just added to the mystery. As the song went on she had slowly lead us out to the balcony. Once we were out there she asked me, "Do you recall who I am?"
I told her, "You seem so familiar but if I saw her eyes I would likely know in an instant."
She said, "I'd only do that if you answer 3 of my questions."
It was really bothering me to know so I said, "Alright go ahead."
Her first question was did you ever work as a slave. I bit my lip and answered, "Yes I have been one at 2 different times in my life."
She said, "Alright. Is there anyone at all in the whole world that you love and would marry in an instant?"
Another tough one. I told her, "That there was someone but I hadn't seen or heard from her in some time or if she was even invited tonight."
She looked both amused but sad at my answer. "Here's my final question then. Have you ever been kissed on the lips before?"
At first I was taken aback by her forwardness and then calmed myself down any replied, "I was waiting for that woman I mentioned before." She then smiled stepped close to me and stole my first kiss.
"That was my first kiss too," she said after she had stepped back. It took me a minute to realize that she had finally taken off her mask. When I saw those eyes I started crying because I knew who she was.
*Author's Sidenote: Sorry for the bad drawing I'm aware I'm nowhere near a lot of artists out there. But I wanted to give you the readers a better idea of what I was trying to describe. Also apologies for anyone not comfortable with the curse words I threw in but I couldn't think of something better.*
