(F/N)'s POV

I checked my calendar the next day and saw that it was Saturday. I smiled as the sun shone on my sparkling skin. Thank God Carlisle invited me to his house on a Friday night! I smiled as I drank from my Type B blood bag and waited for the right moment to begin my run over to the Cullen mansion. I didn't really know what to expect since it would be just me and Carlisle. We hadn't talked alone in ages and I wasn't sure if things would be the same or different. Hopefully there wouldn't be an awkward tension. The anger I felt when he left me back in Volterra washed away and all I felt were my nerves. What would happen when we're alone? Did he remember the old times? Did he forget them? Deep down inside I knew things were different. A shaky sigh escaped my lips and I ran a hand through my hair.

After I finished my blood bag, I wondered if it would just be me and Carlisle while Esme and the children were hunting or if she would be prowling. I mean, I know she's his mate and I wouldn't dream of ripping them apart, but come on! Carlisle was one of the only real friends I had in the Volturi after I turned him, so one could argue that he was my first love. I didn't know what my future held, that much is true, but I also knew that visions of the blond hottie I'd seen in the Cullens' bathroom last night kept plaguing me. Who was he? And what was our connection?

I kept thinking about it as I stared down the street toward the human, Bella Swan, and her father's house. I guessed it was luck that I moved as close to her as I did or something else that I didn't know, but I didn't bother to figure it out as the time ticked away. I discarded the empty blood bag into a trash bin. Maybe I should drink another one just to be safe. I wouldn't want to accidentally drain Bella or her father. Edward and the Cullens wouldn't be too happy with me, and neither would I, frankly.

Either way, I grabbed another blood bag, put it in my purse, and ran to the Cullen mansion. The wind rushed through my (h/c) hair and I smiled when the back of the house appeared; I guess I'd run about twenty miles, but that meant Carlisle's house is pretty close.

I stopped outside the living room windows and saw Carlisle sitting at the dining room table working on something. No one else looked like they were home, so I smiled and knocked on the closest window pane. I giggled when Carlisle noticeably jumped and smiled when he saw me waving. He chuckled, opened the door for me, and said, "You sure know how to make an entrance, don't you?"

I nodded, entered the living room/dining room, and said, "That I do. You didn't stop me then and you won't stop me now, will you, Carlisle?"

"And I never would," he added.

I stiffened at his comment. There it is, the tension I was hoping wouldn't appear. I smiled and sat across from him, crossing my legs under the table and setting my purse onto the table between us. He smiled at me and I said, "I hope I didn't scare Bella too much when my vampire took over."

Carlisle said, "If she didn't back away from you, (F/N), then you didn't scare her." I giggled and he added, "Though I will admit it is rather weird to see you look more human than vampire when you, as you say, "turn off" your vampire. I guess that's because you rarely did that around me when I was in the Volturi and got used to seeing you as a vampire instead of human."

I smiled and said, "I never showed you my human side because I was not used to walking around as a human. I also knew that you had to get used to me being your sire, and I could not do that if I was walking around looking human."

"You never ceased to amaze me in both forms," Carlisle muttered. I raised an eyebrow at his suddenness. "The way you were never drunk with power or cruelty is what drew me to you," Carlisle said.

My mouth opened slightly but no words came out. What could I possibly say to that? I didn't know if it was a compliment, a confession, or flirting. He kept staring at me and I plucked up the courage to state, "I don't know if that was a compliment, a confession, or flirting, my friend. Because if it was flirting, then let's hope Esme didn't hear it."

That got Carlisle outright laughing and he said, "It was a mix of the three, with flirting being rather subtle; I never told you that before I left, so I figured now was a good time to say something."

I smiled and said, "Well then, the fact that you never drank from the humans Aro brought in for daily feedings always fascinated me. Were you never drawn to human blood after I turned you?" I never fully understood his vegetarian lifestyle, and though I'd always wanted to try it, I knew I never could fulfill it with Aro watching me like a hawk.

Carlisle sighed and said, "No matter what I became, I could never feed on innocents. If I had, then I would have proven myself to be a monster. Thoughts of draining innocent humans plagued my thoughts years after you turned me, I will admit that. After realizing that I could feed on animals rather than humans, I developed my vegetarian lifestyle."

I sighed and said, "I wish I could live like you, Carlisle. But you know how Aro is with me; he won't even let me go out without either Felix or Demetri. But now that I'm free..." I inched closer to him and continued, "Maybe I could try it."

He inhaled and I heard, "I hope you guys are getting along."

I shot back into my chair and didn't move when I felt Esme's presence. Carlisle said, "We are getting along, Esme. We were just reminiscing about the days after she turned me."

I smiled and nodded as Edward said, "Well, you two had better wrap it up."

Emmett smiled and added, "Yeah, and quickly. There's a storm coming, and we don't want to miss it."

I raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why do you need a storm?"

Emmett didn't answer as Edward said, "I'll go get Bella." He then sped off toward her house the same way I'd come.

I looked between everyone as they started getting dressed in baseball gear out in the open. I asked again, "Why do you guys need a storm to play...baseball?"

Emmett smirked, stared at me, and answered, "You'll see."
