Jason's POV

I swore when my coven brothers and I left Greece and our true mates that I'd never tell anyone I was gay. But (F/N) pushed me too far and I couldn't stop myself. Damn my big fat mouth that I wish was stuffed with...something that only my true mate could give me and I'd happily receive, but I digress. I let (F/N) go, she stared at me, and I said, "Now you know. Are you going to proclaim it to the world?"

She shook her head and answered, "No, I'm not. Besides, it's not my secret to tell." I smiled at her, walked next to her, and sat down at the base of the same tree Perseus, Adonis, and I would meet at. She sat next to me and asked, "Does Riley know?"

I shook my head and answered, "No, he doesn't. And I don't want to scare him off with my revelations of both liking men and being undead."

That got a scoff out of (F/N) and she said, "You and me both, buddy."

I chuckled and said, "You know? Though I don't know you that well, you're pretty funny for a vampire."

"I'd say the same about you, but you're way older than I am and I don't want to insult you," was her justifiable reply.

"I may be older in vampire years, but we're almost the same age in human years," I said.

I watched as she rolled her eyes. "Yeah fucking right, Grandpa." she sassed. My jaw slightly dropped at her sudden boost of confidence. I broke out into a fit of laughter and she joined soon after. (F/N) wasn't that bad. How I thought she'd be a problem, I'll never know. As our laughter died down, (F/N) asked, "What made you come here instead of stick with your coven brothers? Did they hurt you?"

I shook my head and said, "The contrary; my coven brothers were and still are some of the best vampires I've ever known and I will always keep them with me. But I left them due to our true mates being dickheads and not waiting for us like they said they would." I saw her eyebrow raise, chuckled, and said, "You probably don't want to hear a massive sob story about how my true mate broke up with me and all that jazz, so I won't bore you. Rather, what I will say is that someday soon, our true mates will meet us again, and they'll be sorry that they left us."

She giggled and said, "I don't think you have to be that confident or maybe arrogant when talking about your true mate. He may hear about it and decide you two aren't meant to be."

I playfully pushed her shoulder and asked, "Wanna bet?"

She nodded and said, "I could indulge you, but you're much older than me, so that wouldn't be good for your morale if I beat your ass."

I scoffed and stated, "Assuming that you could even reach me with your stubby arms."

She smirked, stood up, and said, "Try me." I stood to my full height of 6'1" tall and smirked when (F/N)'s head touched the middle of the top of my chest. She looked up at me and asked, "You sure you want me to fight you, Grandpa?"

I chuckled, backed up slightly, and said while assuming an attack position, "I'm sure, pipsqueak. Give it your best shot."

I watched her get into an attack position and come at me, to which I vanished and moved out of the way toward the tree we were sitting by. When I hid behind it, (F/N) said, "Don't use your powers, dude! That's not fair!"

I smirked and said, "You didn't say I couldn't use my powers before we started, so I'm perfectly in the right, pipsqueak!"

While still invisible, I stood behind (F/N) and pushed her, sending her falling to the ground and almost face planting into the grass. "Now that was a dick move," she said, got up, and quickly turned around.

She charged toward my invisible figure, but I moved out of the way. (F/N) barrelled into the tree and more cracks spidered out of the original one. I snickered and asked, "You a tree-hugger now? Does Riley need to be alerted?"

(F/N) growled, "Shut up, Jason, and appear so I can beat your fucking face in!" When I didn't comply, she let out another frustrated growl and I laughed. That was my first mistake, even though I was still invisible, but I hadn't moved from where I stood. When (F/N) heard my laughter, she used the sound to figure out where I was and tackled me to the ground, landing on top of me and turning me into a starfish. She leaned in close and whispered, "I won" while laughing and rolling off me.

I chuckled and stared up at the sky, not noticing that the sun was coming dangerously close to peaking up on the horizon; had we been sparring for that long? If the sun was starting to come up, then apparently so. I sat up on my haunches and said, "I don't mean to ruin whatever you're thinking, (F/N), but the sun's rising."

(F/N)'s POV

At Jason's declaration, I opened my red eyes and looked toward the horizon, seeing the signature golden light of the sun peeking up. The sun was indeed rising and I was seriously fucked if Riley saw me. I shot to my feet and started walking toward my car while telling Jason, "Thank you for an excellent sparring match. I have a feeling we'll be great friends." When I got to my car, my nose smacked a chest and I'd somehow forgotten Jason was an old vampire who could turn invisible at will; he'd apparently been following me. I sighed and said, "Let me in. If Riley sees me, I'll kill him." I could see in his red eyes he knew I was right, but something was holding him back, and I didn't like it.

As I stared him down, he held his hand between us and asked, "Shake on it?"

I cocked an eyebrow at him and asked, "What am I shaking on?"

While still maintaining his serious face as the sun danced through his brown hair, making both our skin glisten like diamonds, Jason stated matter-of-factly, "Promise me that you will not kill Riley if you ever come back."

I looked at the dorm building before answering, "Of course. I promise." He didn't move out of my way and I gave him a questioning look. Jason placed his extended hand in front of my face and I sighed. "Oh, right," I said and grabbed his hand.

When I did, my TV channels started showing me things I'd never thought I'd see. I watched Jason stand behind a throne in the signature Volturi robes I'd brought with me, smiling down at someone who I couldn't see with blond hair. Who was Jason's mate, and why was he sitting on a throne I knew to be Caius' throne? I didn't know, and when I pulled away from Jason's strong grip, I decided not to say anything and smiled. Today was not the day and time to tell Jason who I thought his mate was, though I had a very strong inclination of who he was. He also smiled and then asked, "You alright?"

I nodded and he moved out of my way, letting me open the car door and get into the car. Before I shut the door, I turned to him and said, "I'm fine, Jason. Thank you so much again for not outing me to Riley and for sparring with me." He smiled, I shut the door and turned the car on while blaring Guns and Roses through the stereo. Once my head was thoroughly banging along, I sped out of the dorm parking lot and started the trek back to the Cullen mansion, hoping to high heaven nothing too bad happened while Bella was hiding from James.
