Stares That Linger Too Long

It has been a week since TWICE debuted and they are set to perform today their last stage for the Ooh Ahh era. TWICE arrived pretty early in the venue and there are still not many groups around.

They are on their way to their assigned room when Dahyun said that she wants to go to the comfort room. Jihyo just smiled and nodded and told her to just follow them after.

Dahyun is unfamiliar to the place because it's their first time performing here but she somehow managed to find the comfort room.

She still feels sleepy because they woke up early for this. She's still not used to their schedules but being part of TWICE makes her happy. It has always been her dream to become an idol and perform to make people happy. Dahyun is that kind of girl who loves to make everyone smile.

She realized that she will be seeing most of the older groups today and felt giddy at the thought.

It's normal for idols to have idols too. During their trainee days, Dahyun fangirls a lot along with TWICE. One of her favorite groups is BTS. She even attended one of their fan meetings before.

Thinking about seeing BTS up close makes Dahyun excited. After using the comfort room, she decided to go to their room now so she could finally prepare. She wants to do her best today.

She fished her phone out of her pocket to ask Chaeyoung what hall their room is located in and did not realize she's walking without looking at her way.

Meanwhile, Jimin is walking in the same direction and saw the back of Dahyun. Of course, he did not recognize who the girl is but he saw that she was walking while looking at her phone and is about to trip because of the stairs she's not aware of. Not wanting to see the girl hurt, she grabbed her waist gently and pulled her into his direction, just before she took another step and fall.

Dahyun was shocked when she found herself enclosed in the arms of a guy. Her face is at the same height as his chest and she can't help but smell the sweet but manly perfume the guy wears. She looked up and was stunned to see who the guy is.

"Jimin-sunbaenim." She said in recognition, almost in a whisper.

Jimin met her eyes and took a second to realize who the girl is. He felt his heart skipped a beat, and then it started beating louder. With Dahyun being near his chest, he panicked that she might hear it. Little did he know that Dahyun would not be able to hear it because she's drowned by the beating of her own heart.

As if enchanted by Dahyun's eyes, Jimin snapped out of his daze and realized their position. If someone happens to see them, they would definitely look like hugging. As much as he wants to stay like this, the issues and scandals it will stir won't be very nice especially that Dahyun just debuted. It's a good thing that the hallways are still deserted. He cleared his throat and gently released Dahyun from his arms.

"I'm sorry, I panicked seeing that you might fall so I grabbed you without thinking." He said, trying to act and sound cool. He put his hand inside his pocket and the other one he used to brush his hair.

Dahyun suddenly feels awake more than ever. As if she drank a huge cup of coffee and now her heart's palpitating. She's in disbelief and utterly speechless but she somehow managed to get a hold of herself and bowed to Jimin.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking. Thank you for saving me." She said without looking at his face. She feels embarrassed. At the same time, she's feeling butterflies inside her stomach. Big colorful butterflies.

Jimin saw Dahyun's cheeks flushed red and a sheepish smile formed in his lips. She's cute, he thought. Seeing her this close, he thought that she even looked prettier than in her photos.

"It's okay. I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself." Jimin replied. He meant every word he said because he was actually looking forward to seeing TWICE's live performance today.

"I'm Jimin of BTS, by the way." Jimin offered his hand for a handshake.

Dahyun, flustered at the introduction, reached for his hand. "I know who you are sunbaenim. It's nice to see you. I'm Dahyun from TWICE. We just debuted last week. "

Jimin smiled because he knows her name already but still feels happy because she told him.

Dahyun, even though still feeling embarrassed, finally mustered the courage to look at Jimin in the eye. She smiled at him sincerely because she feels happy having met him here. Jimin stared at her, seemingly surprised by the smile that he didn't notice he is staring at Dahyun for almost five seconds.

"Sunbaenim?" Dahyun called out Jimin, feeling shy and awkward because of his stare. Dahyun's phone suddenly rang, and that's when Jimin realized that he's still holding Dahyun's hand.

"Sorry." He muttered, surprised by his own actions.

Dahyun just smiled. "I have to go now Jimin oppa. I need to get ready."

Jimin nodded. And said, "see you around".

Dahyun bowed again and thanked Jimin before turning her back from him. Jimin watched her disappear to the end of the hall before he starts walking too. He clutched his chest where his heart is and wondered why it aches from beating. The smile sure got him. And did she just called him Oppa? Jimin shook his head and smiled, remembering the moment that just transpired.
