"Johnny, do you ever want to get married someday?" You asked. You were entering 4th grade the next year and had developed a crush on Johnny, who was also your best friend.

"Well, I dunno. I don't think about that stuff usually."

"Well," you began, rolling over to face Johnny, "If you were getting married tomorrow, who would you get married to?"

"Hmm, you, I think."

"What?"

"Well we're already best friends, we could just be married without all the lovey-dovey stuff."

You sat up fully, Johnny did too. Staring each other down, you spoke confidently.

"Well, let's get married!"

"W-what?"

"Well, we don't gotta tell nobody, it'll just be our secret!"

"Pinkie promise?" You leaned forward and linked pinkies with Johnny.

"Pinkie promise."

"Y/n! Johnny! Time for lunch!" Your mother called. You and Johnny ran from your spot and raced inside. You both sat at the table, panting while your mother handed you both sandwiches.

"So I think we should get married tomorrow." You said, your mouth full of food.

"I think we should too. That way we can both be ready and stuff." Johnny replied shyly

"I'll make the rings"

"I can get you flowers"

"I like the big yellow ones, like the ones the curtis' have!"

"I do too!"

"We have to have them at our wedding."

"Ok."

You and Johnny smiled brightly at each other as you both messily ate.

"Johnny, your mother's here!"

"Ah, shoot. I'll see you tomorrow y/n, then we'll get married! Bye!"

"Bye!"

You spent the night crafting small rings made of paper. Sure, they weren't much and weren't shiny like you had wanted, but they would suffice. Your feelings for Johnny were very real, but because you were only nine you didn't know how to identify your crush on Johnny. All you did know was you couldn't wait for tomorrow.

But tomorrow never came.

You had waited out by the tree you typically met Johnny at with your rings, but he never showed up. You stayed out there all day until your mother had called you inside because it was too dark.

After that, you hadn't seen Johnny until your first day of school. You waited for him to approach you, but he never did. It was the same up until your sophomore year of high school.

You had changed, you weren't the same little girl you were since the 4th grade. Johnny as well had changed, but your feelings for each other had disappeared. Or at least you thought they did.

"Hello class, I'm sure you all know me by now my name is Mrs. Canigula and before we get to learning we have to give you guys your assigned seats."

The class groaned and stood up from their spots as Mrs. Canigula read off her seating chart. You were a little nervous because you didn't exactly have any friends in this particular class.

"At this seat, uhh Johnny Cade and Y/n l/n!"

Your eyes widened. It's been 6 years since you even spoke to Johnny. You had traced your memory as you walked to the desk, and then you remember your last experience with Johnny was getting married. Or as close to married two 9 year olds could be. You also remembered the night you were supposed get married.
