Sang's P.O.V.
I feel a warm numbness to my body. So relaxing, and cozy. But I know such feeling would never last long. So I pry my gritty eyes open. I am immediately blinded by white, so I squeeze them shut again.
I try to push myself up, but my muscles are too heavy to move. My face is pressed against a white pillow and reopening my eyes, all I can see is wires connecting- from a big metal pole holding bags filled with clear and red liquid- to the bed I'm resting in.
I immediately begin to panic. I can't be where I think I am. I'm not allowed. How long have I been here? How did I get here? What happened?
How do I escape without being noticed?...
Why can't I move?As my mind ran through every possible question and possiblity, the click of a door shutting sounded quietly through the room. Followed by soft footsteps walking across the tiled floor towards the bed I lay in.
I held my breath in fear, hoping it wasn't my mother. Already imaging what she would do as a punishment.
"Well good morning Pookie. How are you feeling?" I heard Dr. Sean's voice coo.
With my fear short lived, I instantly relaxed before nodding my head. When trying to speak, only mumbling and jumbled words escaped. Causing Dr. Sean to lightly chuckle.
"It seems that Dr. Robert strengthened your pain medications. I'll lower it, but if you feel pain you can let me know. Also, in a few moments I'm going to have to move you onto your side, so you don't get bed sores. Those can be quite uncomfortable."
I nod my head again. I then begin to hear rustling and movement to my side but couldn't move enough to fully see what was being done. Then I feel gentle hands on both my thigh and shoulder, rolling me onto my side, before carefully placing what I assume to be is pillows behind and in front of my body.
"Ho logg Av Ibean earrr." I try to ask. My tongue feeling fat in my mouth. I could feel the heat spread through my cheeks in embarrassment.
But he must have known what I was trying to ask because he responds immediately. " Well Pookie, we had to do surgery on you for your back. And with such a horrible injury we needed to make sure it would heal right and no serious infections would begin. So we put you in an induced coma. You've been out for about a month now. But we can talk about the rest later. After you can talk more clearly. Now I want you to try to get some rest, and I'll be back in a little while. "
Before I could protest and demand answers he had already walked out the door. Leaving to me to stress about what would happen to me when I went back home after being gone for so long. But my last thought before drifting asleep was why was Dr. Sean so kind to me, when he has clearly seen what a destroyed person I am.
Sean's P.O.V.
I'm so relieved that Pookie is recovering so well. Many of the nurses didn't think she would make it this far. Her back had been absolutely horrifying. In spots you could see bone. Others her skin was so shredded, that we had to cut it off. She lost alot of blood while going through the surgery. We had several flat lines from her also. But here she is. Alive. Better.
I smile to myself in pride. My Pookie is so strong. I know she is. Looking at her, you could see that she has been through hell and back. Yet, she fought for her life and made it through. She deserves so much more than what she's been given.
Sang will have severe scarring, no matter what we tried doing to prevent it. And when we did X-rays we had noticed multiple broken bones or previously broken bones that mended wrong. Looking over all the damages throughout her small body had me in tears. I had went home, demanded a meeting between the toma team and mine, and I told them all of what was found. From broken bones, to a punctured lung. I went over it all.
And ever since that day, me and my brothers haven't been the same. We've all distanced ourselves from everything. Lost in our own thoughts. Throwing ourselves into the Ashley Waters mission.
Everyone did make time to visit Pookie everyday though. All fourteen of us would just pile into her room and sit in silence. Listing only to her breathing and the machines beeping.
Tonight though, we will all be discussing her new living situation. We'll also have to tell her about the Academy, since our team and Axel's team has split adoption on her.
I only hope she understands that we really do care. That we truly want to help her.
So I send out a group text, informing them all on Sang being awake. Getting us all prepared on tonight's meeting.
Then I begin heading to my next patient. In the best mood I've felt for a month.
