"How long was I out?" I asked Liam. I'm currently sitting on the hospital bed closest to the stairs. Liam looked tired and worried but otherwise perfectly healthy. That's a good sign.
Liam handed me some water and answered me,"exactly 4 hours and 33 minutes." I took the cup from him and greedily drained the cup. This man is amazing to have gotten me a drink without me asking, like seriously so sweet.
"Why were you out for so long? I was out for less then an hour and I had injuries," Liam asked me worriedly.
"Well there's a few things that it could be. I could've been dehydrated, not have eaten enough, or even..." I stopped my listing. Could it be? It would make sense, and I did get sick over a wound before which I have never done. In med school they said it was hard for matches though and it usually took a fairly long time. However this is a side effect found in it sometimes.
"It's something bad isn't it? That's why you stopped! Oh no you're dying! Tell me something! Are you going to die right now?" Liam kept freaking out because of my shocked pause.
"Liam... Liam stop!" I yelled finally getting him to stop rambling.
"I'm not dying. People pass out all the time for a lot of reasons," I calmed him down."Then why did you stop? Why did you suddenly look all I don't know the word for it! Ummm... conflicted? Yeah that's it! Why did you look conflicted?" He asked me. Liam grabbed both my arms and continued to check them making sure I was okay. His eyes studied everything about my body and not in the fun way.
Okay he needs to calm down. How can I make him be happy flirty Liam again. Should I say something flirty? I've never done that before. Would he like it or would it just be too weird? You know what anything is better than his x-ray staring.
"Babe you can stop checking me out now. I already know you want this," I said somehow with a straight face and complete confidence. Man that felt weird to say.
Liam's head immediately shot up so he could look at my face. His entire face shined with disbelief and surprise. His dark hair was standing up from all his worried grooming he had administered to it making even his hair look shocked.
Seeing his reaction was somehow very fulfilling. For once I have him flustered! Wow this is awkward but amazing. As I continued looking at Liam's dumbfounded face I couldn't stop the corners of my mouth from turning up. With this small movement I started laughing no longer able to contain my amusement.
Liam soon started laughing with me. Through his laughs he asked me,"Did you really just say that?" I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe so I just nodded my head yes.
We continued laughing for what felt like hours. Whenever we'd almost stop we'd look at each other and start laughing all over again.
Once we finally stopped my abdominal muscles felt strained and from the way that Liam was holding his stomach I think he felt the same. Liam looked at me with a gleam in his eyes and proclaimed," I love you."
I smiled back. "I love you too," I answered. After that we just sat on the hospital bed for a long time. we started to share with each other what we remembered.
"So why did you start calling me Ava-tar anyways? You know that I hate it," I asked him. Liam put his shoulder around me and crushed me into his side. He looked down at me with a smile and answered," You seemed like you could do it all... and well have you seen Avatar the last air bender?"
I looked at him a bit shocked and definitely confused, "yeah I've seen it. Dan made me watch it all the time growing up."
"Well you could do it all and the Avatar could bend all the elements. Also Ava could easily go into Avatar. Plus my small child mind couldn't think of something much better. Not like you can get better. I found a nickname that has both a deep meaning and also sounds geeky," he told me proudly. I like his nickname now. I smiled up at him and quickly pecked his lips leaving him smiling down at me.
We talked more and more until the subject of Kyle came up. "I always had the biggest crush on you. That's why I was so short tempered when you were with Kyle," he told me. I felt myself freeze when Kyle's name escaped his kissable lips.
"Ava what's wrong?" Liam asked suddenly concerned.
"I forgot to tell you. How could I be so stupid?" I said frustrated. How could I forget to tell my husband that my ex boyfriend knew where we were and had threatened to come after us. Stupid! Stupid! I brought my hand up and face palmed myself. With tears in my eyes I told Liam about seeing Kyle right before I was unconscious for the procedure. Liam already knew that Kyle threatened us because I remembered early on and told him, so thankfully I didn't have to relive that part. Liam listened and afterwards wiped my tears away.
"Hey whatever happens we'll handle it alright. We can take him. Nothing bad is going to happen to either of us. You got that?" He told me reassuringly. I sniffled a bit then nodded.
"Hey come here," Liam said. He moved me to where I was hugging him and sitting on his lap at the same time. Being able to smell him helped me relax. I sound so creepy saying that. I must seem creepy to him too. I'm just here crying and smelling him.
"Speaking of bad what were you about to say earlier about you passing out?" He said curiously stopping my train of thought.
Should I tell him? I don't know how he would react, and it's not like it's a for sure thing. It could be a number of things, but I can't shake the feeling of this one. He deserves to know either way he is a huge part of it.
"Sometimes when women pass out it could be a sign of pregnancy," I said into his chest. Hopefully he didn't really understand me. I mean I did tell him. Whether or not he understood me is a completely different thing.
Liam stiffened and then held me tighter to him. He held me like he was scared I was going to disappear.
He took a sharp breath and pulled out of the hug. He stared at me with a small smile and big eyes filled with hope. He definitely heard me. How is his hearing so good? Once he met my eyes and realized how serious I was he let out a strangled laugh and smiled widely.
He pulled me back into the hug and for some reason smelled me. Not like I can judge. I was smelling him earlier. I don't really know what to do right now. I'm just going to hug back and act like he never sniffed me... that's what he did for me.
"This better not be a dream," he whispered with a quiet laugh.
