Vitani
"Hey, Vitani, right?"
I look up from the waterhole to see the new male, Kopa, stood next to me.
"Yeah?"
"I'm just trying to get a better idea of the pride, I'm Kopa."
He holds out his paw, and I hesitate, before shaking it, "Cool."
"So... I was wondering if you would like to show me around the pridelands?"
"I-I thought Kuua did?"
"He did, but the kid seemed to miss out the best bits."
He stretches out beside me, his presence making me feel uncomfortable. I'm used to hanging out with lions like Kiara, or Mheetu, all of whom seem to take up much less space confidence-wise.
"I'm sorry, I-I don't think I can, the hunting party are going out soon."
"Oh."
I start to walk away, attempting to hide the fact that I'm blushing, and speeding up when I hear him shouting after me, "But they just came back five minutes ago!?"
I pretend not to hear. Really well done, Vitani, really well done. I've only been walking for a minute or two when I hear someone screaming. It's Timone and Pumba, and it doesn't sound good, at all. I run towards the sound, to see a lioness chasing them, growling. I jump on her, pinning her down. She growls at me, but she can't get out of my hold, she's much smaller than me, and even from here I can tell that there isn't an ounce of fat on her small frame.
"Vitani! Get off her!"
Mheetu stands in front of me, growling. I stand up slowly, and she retreats backwards, teeth still bared, but fright in her big green eyes.
"She's a rogue Mheetu! She's staying here without the King and Queen's permission!"
He looks lost for words, and the female speaks for him, "I'm Dalila, me and my brother and sister have nowhere to go, and we haven't been overhunting, we swear."
"That doesn't mean you can stay!" I growl, claws sinking into the ground.
"I was going to introduce her to the King and Queen today, that's why we're so close to pride rock!"
"She needs to leave," I say, through gritted teeth.
"You have no authority here, Vitani."
"And you do?!"
"Since I'm related to the Queen by blood, yes, I do, so please, let me deal with this."
"Fine."
Just then a cub bursts out of the bushes, followed by another half-starved lioness who audibly gasps when she sees us all. She picks the cub up by the scruff, and sinks her claws into the ground.
"Vitani here was just leaving," says Mheetu, as I step back and walk away.
Dalila
At pride rock...
When me and my siblings arrive with Mheetu to pride rock, we wait just out of the line of sight of the pridelanders. He walks into pride rock, and me and my siblings wait. We all jump when an elderly female speaks, approaching us slowly.
"Which one of you is Dalila?"
We all just stare, how does this female know my name?
"Me," I say, stepping forward.
"Interesting," she says.
"How do you know my name?"
"I'm Mheetu's older sister, and he's always talking about you. He's in love with you, you know."
I just look back at her in shock, lost for words.
"Im the Queen's mother, and don't worry, I've already put in a good word for you all."
"You have?" says Kali, placing Asani down on the ground.
"If it makes my little bro happy, and also, I have a soft spot for cubs," she messes with the tuft of hair on Asani's head, smiling.
Just then, Mheetu walks up to us, with two other lions in tow.
Dalila, Kali, Asani, this is Kovu and Kiara, the king and queen.
"Thank you so much for considering our offer," I say.
"Trust me, I know what it's like to fall in love with someone not in my pride," the queen head buds the king.
He smiles, "We would be very happy to welcome you here."
"Thank you, you don't even know what this means for us," says Kali, bowing her head.
"Come," says Kiara. "We'll show you around."
I smile, and Kali picks up Asani. Mheetu walks by my side, and Nala tags along with us as they show us around the pridelands.
Kopa
I see Vitani walking towards pride rock, her cheeks are flushed, and she kicks rocks across the ground as she walks.
"You OK?"
She glances up, as if registering my presence, before walking on.
"That family just waltzes in here and gets inside the king and queen's head, it's so frustrating."
"You don't seem angry about me coming?"
She stops, and looks up at me. "That's...different."
"Face it, no-ones immune to my charm."
She laughs, "You're too cocky for me."
"Oh really?"
"Yup," she says. "Also, you have no natural charm."
"Ouch."
She grins, "Trust me, it isn't personal."
"Well, I'm sure I could find another female in no time."
She looks up at me, and raises her eyebrows.
"See," I say. "I always knew you were into me."
