❛CHAPTER TWELVE the triwizard tournament❜

PERCYyawned, his head facing towards Dumbledore as he walked up to his podium to give a speech. Just hours before they had all arrived to Hogwarts finally, the Quidditch Tournament now in the back of his head, just trying to give his bones a break from when he shifted and saved that little girl. Kai sat across from him like always, shifting in his seat as his impatience was showing, while Wade was fiddling with his fingers and examining the ceiling of the Great Hall, his eyes watching the dark sky.
"This castle will not only be your home this year, but home to some very special guests as well." Dumbledore called, taking notice as Filtch ran up the aisle of the Hogwarts tables. "You see Hogwarts has been chosen," Dumbledore stopped his speech as Filtch came up to him, the two whispering to each other until the odd squibb ran away.
"How old do you think Filtch is?" Kai asked his friends, earning looks of confusion from the two other males. "What, I'm just asking."
"He's probably about... I don't actually know." Wade whispered, lowering his head and looking back towards the headmaster.
"So, Hogwarts has been chosen to host a legendary event: The Triwizard Tournament!" Dumbledore yelled, earning gasps from students and Percy's immediate attention. "For those of you who do not know, the Triwizard Tournament brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. From each school, a single student is selected to compete. Now let me be clear, as chosen you stand alone, and trust me when I say, these contests are not for the fainthearted. But more of that later, for now please join me in welcoming the lovely ladies of the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, headmistress, Madam Maxime!"
Percy watches as the females in blue practically walk down the aisle in full formation giving their performance. Where they would stop and sigh at the boys from time to time, before at the end releasing dozens of small blue birds. Percy shook his body as he knew all the upper class man were getting very turned on by this, and he had to cover his nose at the disgusting smell. It was just one of the many downfalls of having good smell.
"And now our friends from the north, please greet the proud sons of Durmstrang and their high master, Igor Karkaroff!" Dumbledore announces after greeting the headmistress.
The males walk in looking savage, as if they came from hell, and their performance was quite intimidating, Percy had to admit, and he could tell Kai was too, as he shifted in his seat and sat up taller, trying to look intimidating. It just made Percy shake his head in amusement at his friend's antics.
"Your attention, please!" The hall immediately quietens down at Dumbledores voice and he continues. "I'd like to say a few words. Eternal Glory, that is what awaits the student who wins the Triwizard Tournament. But to do this, that student must survive three tasks. Three, extremely dangerous tasks. For this reason the Ministry has seen fit to impose a new rule. To explain all this, we have the head of the Department of International Magical Coorperation, Mr. Bartimus Crouch, as well as one of the head Auror, Mr. Elijah Thayer."
Immediately a flash of lighting erupts in the great hall, and students scream the sudden surprise. Percy also flinches slightly at the loud noise, his eyes going wide at the mention of him. A red bolt of magic clears the sky that had suddenly become cloudy abd stormy in the room, and a man comes walking out from the shadows, with a fake leg and scars all over his body with also a fake eye, he clearly looked insane Percy noted. Dumbledore greeted the man quietly as Crouch went to give his speech, with Elijah Thayer close behind, standing tall with a menacing glow to him.
It made Percy cower a little as he sank down into himself, something that went unnoticed by Kai and Wade. Kai knew about the things Elijah did to Percy, so he only glowered at the man, his hatred evident, while Wade grabbed his older brothers hand in comfort, which seemed to immediately calm him- at least just a little.
"After due consideration, the Ministry has concluded that, for your own safety, no student under the age of 17, shall be allowed to put forth their name for the Triwizard Tournament!" Crouch announced, and the hall erupted into shouts of how it was unfair.
Though Albus came up quickly and silenced them all, then taking out his wand and slowly unveiling the gold that surrounded the cup, which immediately lit a blue flame by its self. Elijah's attention was immediately on it as well as every else, examining it before looking away and back over the crowd of students. His menacing blue eyes somehow landed on Percy, and when they did, an emotion passed through them that the boy wasn't able to pick up on.
"The Goblet of Fire, anyone wishing to submit themselves to the tournament, need only to write their name upon a piece of parchment and throw it into the flame before this hour on Thursday night." Dumbledore called. "Do not do so lightly, if chosen there's no turning back. As from this moment, the Triwizard Tournament has begun!"
Everyone cheered and the feast began, and people immediately began piling up their plates with food- Kai being swiftly one of them- chatting to their friends as they caught up with each other since the summer. Though Percy didn't dare touch any of it, his eyes always shifting towards Elijah who was now sitting and chatting with Dumbledore, a clear fake smile across his lips. It made a feeling of dread wash over the boy's body, his fear evident.
The second he saw the older man, he knew that this year wasn't going to end on a happy note, and it scared the hell out of him. Though he could only hope it wasn't true, that Elijah wasn't here to cause the chaos he was known so well to cause.

AUTHOR'S NOTE hopefully everyone can now see how part two is going to be different. elijah is going to be a new main character, and clearly if you can't tell a whole bunch of chaos is going to happen that wasn't in the original story. so i hope you're ready for it all, have a good day or night and stay safe everyone!
