❛CHAPTER NINE
moments❜

PERCY let out a groan of pain as he shifted his body on the forest floor, hissing at the sudden pain that shot through his body from the broken and sore bones he had, as well as the many deep and light gashes littering his body. He was still recovering from the fight with Remus last night, the wounds on his body still not healed because they were given to him by another werewolf. He tried his best to ignore the pain as he stretched his naked body and stood up, wrapping a hand around his waist to hold his side as he walked over to a tree.

He leaned down before the tree, pulling out a shirt and shorts from the hollow of it and quickly putting them on. He then slipped some worn out, beaten up shoes from there as well, slipping them on to his feet. He let out another groan of pain from his wounds, and as well at the stiff muscles of his bones, which were still healing from him shifting last night and that morning, as well as from when Remus had broken a few, particularly his ribs which were burning, letting him know they weren't yet healed.

He shook the pain off and made his way through the Forbidden Forest, while making sure he still had his mother's silver bracelet, something he had stashed in another tree. He trudged through the forest, navigating it as he tried to keep his eyes open and make it in time to Madam Pomfrey. He hoped that the woman would have enough supplies still after she was done with him, and Remus who he doubted wasn't already at the Hospital Wing.

When he got to the clearing of the edge of the forest, Hogwarts came into view, with the sun barely peeking over the castle, casting a nice morning halo over it. Percy smiled a little seeing it, it was a very beautiful sight, but when he felt a seer of pain from side, he shook his head and began his decent up to the looming school.

HERMIONE was running down the halls of Hogwarts first thing in the morning when she woke up, her destination in mind being the Hospital Wing. She had gotten no sleep (of the few hours she did), to worried about Percy and fearing the worst, remembering the wounds on his body from his fight with Remus. She didn't know if he was okay, and hadn't heard anything from anyone if had been seen entering the school, but she knew if there was one place he'd be after last night, it would be the Hospital Wing.

     And luckily she was correct.

"Oh my god, Percy!" Hermione exclaimed, her eyes immediately falling onto the boy who was sitting up in a hospital bed. She was about to run over to him and engulf in a hug when she was stopped by Madam Pomfrey.

"No no no, Miss Granger!" Madam Pomfrey bellowed, stepping in the girls way. "There will be no visitors for Mr. Thayer at the moment."

"But-" Hermione was going to try, but was silenced by the woman once again.

"Please Madam Pomfrey, could we have about five minutes?" Percy asked the woman, who looked over and was seemingly debating before letting out a sigh.

"Fine, but only five minutes and then you need your rest!" Madam Pomfrey exclaimed, before walking away and heading over to another patient's bed, muttering under her breath about 'young love' on her way.

"Are you okay?" Hermione asked, after walking over and taking a seat on the edge of his bed, trying to ignore the blush spreading over her cheeks as she noticed he was shirtless.

"Oh I'm absolutely brilliant," Percy sarcastically stated. "I'm not sore like hell or anything at the moment."

"Right, that was dumb to ask.." Hermione muttered, mentally scolding herself from the dumb question, before she suddenly looked at his fully, becoming suddenly nervous. "So... your a werewolf?"

"Yeah, guess I am." Percy muttered, looking away from her, suddenly nervous as well for her reaction. "You going to go tell the whole school? Say I'm a monster and run away."

"What- no! Of course not!" Hermione immediately stated, shaking her head and becoming slightly angry at the accusation. "Percy I would never do something like that, especially to one of my friends and someone who saved me, Harry and Sirius's life!"

Percy kept looking deep into her eyes, trying his best to try and search for some sort of lie and her words, but in the end he came up with nothing. He looked away from her and began to subconsciously mess with one of the bandages wrapped around his arm, letting her words sink in. He hadn't heard the words 'friend' being referred to him besides his group, by someone he hadn't know much about or long. He didn't know why either why those words spoken from Hermione meant so much, and made him feel so vulnerable all of the sudden.

"You have no idea how much those words mean to me.." Percy spoke softly, tears beginning to well up in his eyes. "I don't know why those words coming from you mean so much to me either."

"Oh, Percy.." Hermione began, her heart suddenly aching at his obvious pain.

"Why." Percy simply asked, immediately confusing the Gryffindor.

"Why what?" Hermione asked, her eyes squinting as she stared at him.

"Why call me a friend? Why thank me for what I've done? Why even stick around me?" Percy asked, a tear now sliding down his cheek as he stared at her. "Why be so nice to me?"

Hermione hesitated to answer, not entirely knowing how to respond to a question like that. "I- I um, don't really know entirely. I just feel.. since the day you basically saved me from Draco, I just felt that.. that I can trust you. No matter who your family is, or the insane rumors spread about you. I know your not a bad person, if anything just misunderstood is all."

Percy didn't say anything to that, he only let a small smile form over his lips as he stared into her eyes. Hermione didn't say anything either, but blushed lightly as he grabbed her hand, slowly interlacing they're fingers together. They both ignored the spark that ignited between their skin touching. It was a light action from Percy to Hermione, but for the two it meant everything, whether they knew that or not.

Madam Pomfrey was watching as the action as she was going to walk over and let the two know the five minutes were up, but when she saw the light and smile on Percy's face, she decided against it. She decided to give them a few more minutes, a thought passing through her mind knowing that those two were perfect for each other. It didn't matter what life threw at them they both would come back to each other.

Even if the light and dark tried to pull them away.
