❛CHAPTER THIRTY THREE
the empty hole inside❜

˙·✧──·✦·──✧·˙

TEARS STREAMED down Percy's face as he stared at that wall in front of him, deep scratch marks embedded into the concrete. He sat on his still ruined bed in his room, zero emotions in his eyes as his Slytherin tie hung loosely around his neck. His bag lied besides him, the few things that he treasured most were neatly in there. No one had seen or heard from Percy since he got back from the Ministry, the grief he was going through making it to hard to do his lessons or stand to see anyone he loves. The portrait to his own room creaked open, but Percy played no attention to it.

"Should've known you'd have ripped this room apart." Dumbledore said, his eyes trailing over the destroyed pieces of furniture and other things. "I hadn't realized the severity of things."

Dumbledore let out a sigh, and walked over to Percy, taking a seat besides him on the bed. The older man placed a gentle hand on his shoulder which Percy slightly flinched at.

"Why do I feel so much pain?" Percy asked, finally looking at the man with broken eyes.

"This pain is part of being human, the fact that you can feel pain like this is your greatest strength, Percy." Dumbledore answered, smiling softly, but Percy just shook his head and looked away.

Percy took a shaky breath in. "There is so much pain... a-and I-I don't know how to not notice it. It never stops, and just.... just keeps getting worse. I-i don't want to feel this anymore."

"Percy..." Dumbledore began, looking at the broken boy. "Numbing the pain for awhile will make it worse when you finally feel it."

"I know that!" Percy yelled, leaping to his feet as he threw his end table at the wall. "I know that will happen, and for hells sake I hate it! I hate feeling this way! I hate losing the people that I love! I hate fucking having people that give a damn about me! I'm not supposed to have people love me, I'm just supposed to let myself be swallowed by all of my problems like an oceans roar!"

"Just because you feel like you deserve nothing, does not mean you do." Dumbledore said, standing up from the bed. "Percy, you have friends for a reason. There's a reason why they love and care for you."

"And what's the reason?" Percy whispered, his voice breaking at the end.

Dumbledore placed his hands on Percy's shoulders, making him look into his eyes. "The reason... the reason is the fact you care about them. That you are kind, loyal, and caring to a fault. You care so much, you feel as though you will bleed to death with the pain of it, and that's why you have friends, because they are there to give you life, to let you keep standing because they know you care for them, and that you will never betray or harm them. At least... not intentionally that is."

Dumbledore let go of Percy and walked back towards the door to his room, but he paused before he countiuned any further.

"There will come a time where we must all face the choice between what is right, and what is easy." Dumbledore said, once again staring into the boys eyes. "Have a good summer, Percy."

Percy watched as Dumbledore left him, leaving him in the completely destroyed room, and to think over the words that he had said to him.
