Yonghwa woke up and found Joo Hyun asleep beside him “How long did I sleep?” He whispered and looked at the time “Omo, it’s past lunch time.” in a side lying position with his one hand supporting his head “What did Chanyeol see in you?” he thought while studying her figure then nodded as if he understood.
His gaze fell on her face, her long lashes and her nose. Finally his gaze lingered on her lips and as if hypnotized, his face closed the distance slowly.
Joo Hyun felt an insect has bitten her arm but she ignored it and tried to sleep more. With her half awake she felt someone is slowly approaching her so she opened her eyes and saw Yonghwa. “Huh? What are you doing?” she asked innocently
Yonghwa as if awoken from deep sleep stopped midway and blew Joo Hyun’s eyes “I-I was trying to wake you from sleep. Wae!?” he said in a defensive tone
“Yah! Why did you do that!” she exclaimed while touching her eye.
“Aii! I blew it so that you’ll be awake.” He said and reached for his bag. “It’s passed lunchtime. Let’s eat” he said to change the subject
“Huh? Really?” she then peaked at her watch “No wonder..” an embarrassed smile adorned her face the moment they heard her stomach grumbling
Yonghwa smiled tenderly and gave her his lunch box “Here have some.”
“I thought we’re going to share this? Why are you giving it to me?” she asked
“Yah! Did I say it’s all yours? Just get some and give it back.” He replied immediately
Joo Hyun took a portion of his meal. They started to eat quietly, observing each other.
“Joo Hyun-ah, I’m sorry for being such a jerk.” He started looking elsewhere but her
“Huh. So you know you’ve been a jerk. Then why did you do it?” she wondered
Yonghwa looked at her and answered “I felt my friend is drifting away since... Chanyeol came along.” He finished
Joo Hyun nodded in understanding. “You don’t have to do that. You’re pushing me away because of it.”
“Yeah, I realized that now.” He said and then they fell silent
They were sitting on the same spot reminiscing the past when they noticed that it’s time to go home.
“Omo, the breeze became colder.” Joo Hyun said as she curled herself to contain heat
Yonghwa looked up and said “The sun is starting to set. We should go.” He then stood up. He offered his hand to her to aid her to stand “Are you cold?” he asked after he assessed her
“A little. Let’s go.” She then started to walk in bare feet
“Aniya..” Yonghwa protested
“Are you going to carry me again?” she interrupted “No, I won’t allow it!” she exclaimed determined to walk her way to her house
Yonghwa has no choice but to let her be. He took of his shoes and said “At least wear these. You’re feet’s cold” he offered “This or I’ll carry you home” he said immediately when he saw her about to protest
“Arasso!” she said
They were heading home quietly when Yonghwa suddenly said “Yah, we should have a promise to each other.”
“What proomise.” She asked
“Promise that when we have first girlfriend/boyfriend we should tell each other first.” He said
“Ooww, arasso” she nodded
“So are you two dating?” he probed as soon as she nodded
“Huh? With who?” she asked, clueless
“With Chanyeol.” He answered
“Aahh. Wae-yo?”she retorted, avoiding his question
“Aii! Nevermind!” he said shaking his head “What do you think of Shin Hye?” he continued
“Shin Hye? Park Shin Hye? Class muse?” she asked surprise in her voice
“Hmn.. yeah.” He answered “Uri Shin Hye.”
“URI SHIN HYE!?” she exclaimed with a loud voice “When was she YOUR SHIN HYE?” she continued, now furious
Yonghwa was startled. “YAH! You gave me a fright!” he said while holding his chest “Yes URI SHIN HYE! What do you think of her?” he repeated
Joo Hyun tried hard to control her tears from falling. She breathe in and out to calm her nerves, when she succeeded she said “She’s fine.”
Yonghwa nodded “Chanyeol is fine too. Are you two dating?” he fished again. They were near Chanyeol’s house now.
She felt her hands are shaking “I can’t hold this anymore.” She thought “W-Well s-sort off.” She said her voice trembling
“Aahh..” Yonghwa replied unable to name the strange feeling he felt after her acceptance.
She missed the disappointment in Yonghwa’s face the moment she bent down and took off his shoes.
“Thank you for these.” She said as she handed his shoes not looking directly at him “I had a good time…” she glance at him and smiled bitterly “Until now.” She continued in her thoughts
“Yah! It’s still a long way to your house.” Yonghwa said as he sighed silently
“Here’s good. Just leave me here.” She answered and looked at Chanyeol’s house
“A-arasso. I'll wait for you at our lawn tomorrow” he replied reluctantly
“You don’t have to wait. I’ll go to school with Chanyeol.” She said in sad voice
“Oh…” he said disappointment evident in his voice “A-arasso. See you at school tomorrow then. Bye!”
She looked at his retreating back and said “Why do you have to spoil everything?” she thought and went to Park’s store “Anyeohaseyo, is Chanyeol here?” she asked his mom
“Omo, Joo Hyun-ah! Wait, I’ll call him.” she then went inside to call her son “Chanyeol-ah! Joo Hyun is here.”
