Myre took a deep breath in through her nose, absorbing the scents of grilled meat and breakfast foods. "I love diner food. I don't get to go often enough What are we waiting for? It says seat yourself!"
Like so many places on the west side of the state, Howard's Cliffside Dine In was woodsman and forest themed. With the deep stained wood furnishing, and the pine boughs lining the columns, the only thing missing was ambient cricket chirps, flickering fireflies, and long bearded servers. After sitting down at tables that could support a car, Myre scanned down the menu looking for her meal.
Evan scoffed. "You know? I think after out talk of living wild lives that I'll get something foresty. Honey glazed salmon."
"In that case I'll do the same with a - what's the biggest burger they have here? The Mountain Man Burger? Quarter pound of beef - lettuce - bacon - aged cheddar - red onions - hard roll. Sounds like a burger to me, not sure what's so mountainy about it though."
Evan shrugged. "It's probably just the size of it and the bacon. Bacon makes things manly, don't you know?"
"Do I become manly if i eat a ton of bacon?" Myre laughed.
"Depends on how much bacon I guess. Maybe winning a bacon eating contest against a bunch of lumberjacks might make you manly.
"I'll have to stop just short of that, then." Myre smiled at Evan across the table. Joking about eating. Yes. This is going so well.
They placed their orders, and chatted idly about work while waiting for food. Myre was eager. The more she thought about stuffing her face and pressing herself against him, the more ready she was to shove Evan onto the bed. Gently of course.
The scent of honey and beef preceded the waitress. Without waiting, Myre gripped her fingers into the burger, and took a huge bite. The bacon and lettuce crunched, then her mouth filled with the juice from the griddle charred meat. Riding along with the savory beef, a trace of maple tickled her taset buds. She couldn't help but laugh as she wiped her mouth with a napkin. After their stroll through the woods, all the protein was extra satisfying.
Evan took a deep sigh as he chewed the tender and flaky salmon. As Myre swallowed, he offered a fork full to her, with a smirk.
Yes.. Feed me. Reward my horrible food choices. She took the bite and closed her eyes to enjoy the contrasting light ness of the salmon and honey.
The burger didn't last long with Myre's ravenous urge to get home with Evan. Just the burger and drink was pushing her toward the edge of her capacity, but with how much she'd eaten in the past week, she felt she had room for more. Before Evan would even consider getting the check, she pulled out the desert menu from out behind the condiments.
"I can't decide between peanut butter pie and cheesecake." She announced the first two things that caught her attention.
Evan shrugged. "Why not both?"
Myre smiled. A moment later she placed the order with the passing waitress. A minute or so later, the slices arrived riding on small saucers. She slid one over to her and the other one to Evan. She cleaved off the tip of the cheesecake and brought it to her mouth. She groaned and sunk into the booth about a foot. Evan took a bite of peanut butter with a similar result. Their knees bumped each other under the table. They laughed as they both sat back up..
"Here, try this too." He offered his fork.
Myre took the offered bite without hesitation. "Oh that's sooo goood too."
