In the span of a day Veera lived out a new life. New possibilities promised that the future wouldn't be so bleak and repetitive. Idle fantasies became hopes and dreams. She pictured herself struggling with a belly getting ready for her shows. There she was on tv, taking interview questions with her fingers interlocked atop her beach ball sized gut. Soon she could walk out on stage with a belly as big and heavy as she was. There wasn't another opinion that mattered - not even in her own head.
Like it was the most important test of her life, she poured over the packet of materials and outlined her future. In an email to Miranda she listed what she wanted.
In regards to the genes - I want my belly. It says I can dictate how things get distributed but not exactly. So lets say like 75% belly. 10 percent boobs 5 percent to hips and butt and thighs, and the rest everywhere else. Is that too much? Close to that.
I want all the health stuff. The heart stuff. Altitude stuff. But I want the metabolism stuff too. With the muscles. I need to be able to perform, so being able to build lean muscle will be useful, even if it makes me lose weight easier. The eyesight and hearing things as well. I know it won't have much effect on me, but if I have kids, I don't see why they should miss out.
But I want the stomach size increase thing. As big as you can make it. I want to gain really quick. So more food is better. God, I just want to eat.
And along with that I want the hunger implant. The latest and best you have. I don't see why not. Make me hungry to gain and make myself feel full to better perform.
I want to put on a lot of weight really quick. I want this to be a surprise to all the media and the paparazzi. No one will see it coming. Gah, I can't wait!
Love, Veera.
And with that, Miranda had her list of demands. She agonized waiting to hear back.
Miranda replied a few minutes later via text. "I'll be in contact later to iron out scheduling details. But this all looks perfect. I look forward to working with you, and seeing you plump up. Make sure to take progress pictures. Those will be worth money. I love your idea of rapid gain, though I would suggest you allow yourself time to receive before starting out. We may want to plan some things out before you explode."
Veera put down the details in her calendar then continued with her day.
Next up was the thing she had been dreading about it all. Her fitness training session was coming up. Like a teen ashamed of breaking a pot, she marched to the weight room.
Kary was there setting up their routine. He stopped as she walked in. "Whats a matter Veera? Where is your workout gear?"
"Kary, I have something I need to tell you."
"What?" he asked and stood up straight, looking worried. "Is everything alright? Are you alright?"
"No. Yes! I'm fine. Like, I'm great actually. But..." She laughed nervously. "I had this conversation in my head a bunch of times, and I still don't know how to have it. Kary, I won't be needing you much longer."
"Why?" He asked.
Veera took a deep breath. The show must go on. "I'm going to put on weight. I want to put on weight. A lot of it. And I'm going to do it. I'm going to be so fat, Kary. Like, you don't even know it. I've wanted this - or at least something like it for a long time." She cringed and closed her eyes, waiting for a response. Something negative. Something mean, or undesirable.
"Huh," he said. "Alright."
Indifference. Veera sighed. "No, it's not like I'm rejecting you. You're great! But I want this change."
"No. No it's not like that." Kary shook his head. "I just never expected something like this. You're worth a million times what I am. You're the boss. So if you wanna get fat, then more power to you."
"I - aren't you upset? I thought you'd be upset."
"Nooo," he laughed. But listen sweetheart, you should still keep me on."
"Isn't that counter intuitive? Working out when doing what I'm going to do."
"Maybe a little. But listen, you could out eat my workouts any day. It'll take me over an hour to work off what you could eat in 5 or 10 minutes. But no, I've got something else in mind. Listen, I don't want you to give up touring. You're so talented. And I know you lament it sometimes, but honestly, you couldn't live life without being seen. And to keep in touring condition you're gonna need to work at it. With all the weight you'll be carrying around, you'll need to keep your muscles stronger than ever. I'll help you keep in touring shape - even if that shape is a lot rounder." he joked.
"You're taking this a lot better than I expected..."
Kary chuckled. "I gotta. You must know Dwight won't like this."
"By the time he knows anything, it'll be too late. I'm over doing what he thinks is best." Veera smirked.
"That's my girl," Kary beamed. "Now, you're keeping me on, right? I'd hate to see you not able to perform. It would ruin you."
Veera blushed from the support. "Yeah. You can stay."
