Its already Saturday and I checked the clock to see that it's past 9AM. I also got a text from Jakkob's friend saying she'll be at SM at around 2PM.
Pumunta ako sa banyo for my morning skin care at nagtungo sa kusina to find my mom already cleaning up the table. Napansin kong nakabihis sila ni Dad at kakatapos lang nilang kumain,
"Hey babe, we left food for you. Kumain ka na," she told me as I went to kiss her.
"Saan kayo pupunta? Can I come?" I asked hoping they will let me go with them para hindi na ako gagastos pang commute.
"We're visiting your Tita Helen, and we sent our helpers to go home today kaya't walang maiiwan sa bahay," she explained as she put the plates in the sink. This means kailangan kong maiwan sa bahay buong araw.
"Langga, have you found your keys already?"
"Yeah. Naiwan ko sa pantalon kagabi," Dad was coming from the stairs, holding the car keys on his hand, and he went to me to give me a kiss, "Good morning, babe,"
He must have seen the dismay on my face dahil maiiwan ako sa bahay until they come back, and God knows kung gaano ka sila ka tagal doon sa kanila ni Tita Helen.
They live outside the city and it takes an hour to get there, hindi pa kasama ang kung ano mang dadaanan ng parents ko. Knowing them, they sure have a lot of side trips when going places.
"What do you want us to get you later?" he asked as I took a seat and started eating.
"It's okay," I smiled at him sincerely. Wala naman talaga akong maisip na ipabili, "Magte-text na lang ako mamaya if I need anything."
"Sige, we'll get going. Call immediately if may emergency!" bilin ni Mommy and they both proceeded outside. I heard the engine of the car start so I went out to close the gates as they left. Pagkatapos ay hinugasan ko ang mga plato at nagtext na rin sa kaibigan ni Jakkob na sa Lunes nalang kami magkita para sa tickets.
That morning was boring. After my workout, I took a bath and decided to continue the medical series I was watching. Then when I got bored, I went upstairs to paint something.
It's a hobby I carried since I was young, when my parents sent me to art classes every summer. But I stopped attending them when I got into high school because I started spending my summers going on trips with my family or hanging out with my friends.
Things change but I carry little bits of what I used to do so that I don't get too lost in my present.
Pero these days, I only paint when I try to take my mind off things or when I'm really bored. And now, I'm just extremely bored.
I painted yet another sunflower but I decided to place it under the night sky. I started to wonder, do sunflowers also follow the moon? After all, its light is still from the sun. Or maybe they can tell which is real.
I used this technique where I splatter paint from a brush to place the stars on my work. Then, after some finishing strokes, I felt satisfied with what I did. I placed the small canvas on the edge of my study table.
Then I checked my phone and saw that it's already past 2PM. Hindi ako nakapag-lunch. Pero tinatamad na akong magluto dahil ako lang naman mag-isa dito. I decided to sleep instead.
I woke up with the sound of my phone ringing. Kinuha ko iyon mula sa aking bedside table at nakita ang pangalan ni Mommy.
I answered the phone, "Mom?"
