Frederick and Amanda have been married for sixteen years without children.
Amanda was unable to get pregnant.
Frederick's mother and other relatives have persuaded him but to no avail to get a new wife.
Amanda has a close friend Anita whom she shares all her problems and worries with.
Anita has been Amanda's friend since they were in kindergarten and have become more like sisters.
One day, while Amanda was crying to Anita, telling her about how much she wished she could have children, Anita suggested something to her.
"Amanda,"Anita said,"stop crying.Enough of these tears, I can't bear to see you like this anymore"
"What else can I do,if not cry? I'm completely helpless! I've visited more than a million doctors,none could solve my problem.I'm infertile, Anita.I can't have children, I can never have children" Amanda cried.
She rested her head on Anita's shoulder and wept.
Anita lifted her head from her shoulder and wiped away her tears."Look at me, Amanda,"Anita said.
Amanda looked into her face.
"There is still a way,you can have children"
Amanda was puzzled."I can have children?How?"
Anita said,"I can be your surrogate mother"
Amanda waited a moment for the idea to sink in,to fully comprehend what she was saying, before exclaiming,"What?!"
She stood to her feet, staring at her friend.
Anita stood up as well,"Amanda, I'm sorry.It was only a suggestion, I didn't mean to upset you, I-"
Amanda cut in,"No,you haven't.How come I've never thought of this?"
Anita blinked."You like the idea?"
Amanda nodded."Anita, you've made me so happy! You're truly a good friend, you'll actually give me your child?"
Anita smiled.She took Amanda's hands in hers,"I'll do anything, just to see a smile on your pretty face"
Amanda hugged her."Thank you, so much!"
