Amanda's eyes almost popped out of their sockets, and the bottle fell out of Frederick's hands.
"What?!" He exclaimed."To whom? Whom did you sell her to?" Amanda demanded.
"A woman, at the market"
"Which market? Show me!" Frederick yelled as he began to walk towards the bush path they'd come from, still pulling Anita by the hair.
"No!,"Anita screamed," I won't! Find out yourselves!"
"Do you want me to slap the devil out of you right now?" Frederick didn't let go of her and a violent struggle began.
Anita slipped to the ground like a child trowing a tantrum."No! I'm not showing you! Leave me!"
He completely ignored her and instead lifted her off the ground and slung her over his shoulder.
She kicked out her legs and screamed and punched his back, but he ignored her and began to walk away from the vicinity of the shrine.Amanda followed suit without saying a word.
The old man watched as they disappeared from his view."Who's paying for my spilled poison?!" He called out,but no one paid him any attention.
Sighing,he turned and went back grumbling into his shrine.

Anita finally got tired of the struggle and became quiet.
Frederick eventually let her down so she could walk on her own,but held on tightly to her arm, just incase she got the idea to try and run.Amanda looked closely at Anita and felt pity for her. She realized then how lost and tattered she looked: her hair was scattered and all over the place, her face and body was covered in sand from the little tantrum she'd thrown a while ago,and her eyes were vacant and full of emptiness.
They got to the car and Frederick opened the front door and shoved Anita in. He shut the door and looked at Amanda, and she nodded in understanding.
He nodded back and she smiled, getting into the back.
He got into the driver's side took a tight hold of Anita's hand, just incase she tried to open the door and jump out."Just handcuff me to the stiring wheel then" Anita said, rolling her eyes.
"Shut up" Frederick snapped, and she did shut up.
Lucky for them, the market was still in full activity when they arrived. Frederick pulled Anita out of the car and asked,"where is she?"
Anita just pointed left, and he went in that direction, still holding her like a prisoner.
Amanda followed behind them silently. She directed them to a stall. A woman was sitting there, picking her teeth with a toothpick.
When she saw them with Anita, she stood up like she'd sat on a pin."What happened?" She asked, referring to Anita's tattered state.
"Madam, the child she just sold to you not long ago, she's our daughter.please, give her back" Amanda said.
The woman looked shocked." Ha! She said it was her child oh,that she no want her again that's why I took her oh! Abeg oh, I don't want trouble!" She came out of her stall and called out to a young girl nearby.
"Biliki! Bring that pikin that I gave you,go and bring her!" She turned back to them," please oh, don't be angry. I'm not a bad person oh. I just pitied the baby, because the woman doesn't want her at all and she said she will drown her! She even insisted, that I must pay,if not,me... buy a human being,no oh!"
"It's okay, madam. We just thank God the baby is safe and sound" Frederick said.
