Dusk painted the sky a beautiful pink and yellow and the air smelt of chocolate and sweets."You boys want some dessert?" Mom peeks her head out of the backdoor to where Craig, Emily and I were spraying each other with water guns. Except for for Emily.
Craig had happily agreed to stay at my house for the weekend and all of Saturday were giggles and laughs.
It was nice having a friend stay over, it reminded me of how my friends would have massive slumber parties at one of our friends family cabin in the country side.
We would always swim or fish in the lake till the sun went behind the trees and stayed up all night eating s'mores and shared stories by the fire.
Modern life here was still strange and new but I'm growing to like it.
"We'll be right there!" I answer, snatching a pair of towels off the clothing line to dry ourselves.
I slid my shirt back on and entered the house with Craig and Emily behind.
Emily dashes to the lounge room where as Craig and I bolt for moms classic sponge cake.
"Oh no! No no no!!"
I pause my chewing as dad enters the kitchen with a troubled expression. He looked to be searching for something.
"What's the matter hun?" Mom queries worriedly.
Dad scratches his head, sighing. "The company called for a surprise morning briefing tomorrow but I can't find my one and only formal tie."
Mom look unamused. "A tie?"
"Yes a tie! I need to be in formal wear or they could fire me, or more worse, demote me!" Dad shouts dramatically.
Mom sighs into her hands, rolling her eyes.
"Fine I'll make a quick stop to the store before it closes."
"No no no! I need a formal tie, not a cheap grocery store one!" Dad rants, his hands doing all sorts of motions. "Can you please go to the clothings store in the mall, the one that's sells all the suits and leather shoes."
Mom grinds her teeth. "Fine, but you'll be making dinner for the next week."
Dad grins like a child getting presents on Christmas Day and lands a big kiss on moms cheek before searching the house for his missing tie.
"Do you boys wanna come with me or you comfortable here?" Mom questions, readying her purse. "I wouldn't mind the company."
I glance to Craig who smirked and nodded excitedly.
"Sure, we could skate the empty halls."
I gaze at him with concern. "Are we allowed to skate in the mall?"
"Of course....! As long as we're not caught."
Really assuring Craig..
"Then hurry up boys, get dressed, I'm leaving in five," Mom demands more sternly. "Four, three..."
"Okay okay!"

The mall was quiet with only a handful of late night shoppers were still snooping around.
By now, darkness had fallen and the mall seemed much brighter with all its lights on.
Of course this was my first time in this mall and I was sure this place would be packed during the day.
