Evan
"And that was Craig Thompson!"

I lift my head up to the announcers voice, cheering with Ryan and Lui beside me, our legs dangling as we sat on the railings.

Craig had finished the course within a flash that I was kinda jealous of him. I clap louder as Craig padded up to us, his cheeks rosy pink as he pants.

He removed his helmet, frizzy and wet hair spiking up. I squeak as he places the sweaty helmet on my head, a happy smile on his face.

"Your turn Ev!"

I freeze. Lui and Brock had went before me and finished the course in record time, now I was the last contestant.

I hug my board, my heart beating faster and faster to the point I thought it would explode.

"You alright?" Lui tilts his head.

I swallow thickly, my body shaking as I gently nodded. My legs were noodles as eyes watched me from every corner as I step up to the ramp and ready my board under my feet.

"Whenever you're ready," The announcer told, seeing how nervous I was.

It felt like the world was moving in slow motion, that my next move would change time and space.

I only got out of my head as I spot from the corner of my eye a body jerking itself around. The figure turns out to be David, he scans around him intently, as if he didn't want anyone to see him and mouths out a couple of words.

"You can do this."

My face heats up and my chest begins to fall heavy. I felt myself grow calmer when I knew he was watching, a new determination rushing through my veins.

I furrow my brows and step on my board. As confidence filled my rush, I lean forward and let my board drop until I was racing down the ramp.

Wind brushes through my hair and face as I skid across some rails then up and over a hump. In the free space between a set of short stairs and me, I made sure to do a couple of risky ollies and board tricks in hopes to bump up my score.

The stair rails appear daunting and a high squeal escaped my mouth as I leapt my board upwards, grinding in the rusty metal before congratulating myself as I reached the bottom.

I expected myself to fall off my board minutes before but my feet were actually staying.

I jump over concrete seats that raised themselves from the ground until I reached a wall of a ramp.

I leap and purposely hit my board on the wall before following the arrows made of tape to the next part of the course.

I made sure to do as much grinding and foot tricks as I could. One of which I got far to cocky and accidentally trip over my board. I was able to catch myself from falling and rapidly jumped back on the board. I had to keep going.

I braced myself as my board fell down a empty kidney shaped ditch. I rode along the sides, crouching down so I wouldn't lose my speed.

Once done with my laps around the empty pool, I ride upwards and return to the concrete ground.

I complete the stages sof grinding my board on ledges and rails before dropping down a long set of stairs. My legs ache as they received the impact of the fall.

"That's Evan Fong!"

I was more than delighted to hear the announcers voice as I crossed the designated finish line marked by colourful cones.

I bounce off my board and place my hands on my knees to catch my breath. I peer to my side, my body tensing to see David from the other side of the yard surrounded by his friends. He was smiling- no- grinning at me with so much joy, it looked like it hurt.
