Evan
"There you go! Hope you like your new home little ones!" I can't help but coo as I pat down the soil around the freshly planted daisy's.I'm in quite the joyous mood today, half because of the plants and the other was the fact I was soon to hang out with David to practice for LAST. I haven't seen him since the day I went to aid Craig with his crisis.
The next LAST competition was nerve-rackin, it was sure to happen in the next week or two and I didn't know what to expect. Hopefully not a fifty feet ramp!
I can handle the gentler ramps but the ones you see in comps, my, my they're terrifying.
I'd have to get over the fear sooner or later.
I stand from my haunches, palming my sore legs and removed my soiled gloves. I crazily swat my hand in the air as a sudden buzz invaded my ears.
I yell in pain as a sudden jolt of electricity zooms through my body. The puncture stings as I hug my hand, grimacing at the feeling.
Brian drops his bag of soil and rushes over to me, a hand planted on my shoulder.
"Evan, what's the matter? Did you hurt yourself?"
He gently takes my arm, inspecting my hand. "Looks like a bee sting, are you allergic to bees?"
"No," I shake my head, letting him lead me towards the wooden shed. He places me on the stool beside some shovels and spades and a few empty pots that homed a net of cobwebs.
"Be right back, don't touch it," Brian commands, rushing into the shed before returning with a blue med box.
He kneels at my feet, taking my swelling hand gently.
"This is gonna hurt," He grimaces apologetically. "We need to get the stinger out and reduce the swelling."
"Okay, Dr Hanby," I squeak humorously, trying to evade my eyes.
I cringe as the Irish lad fiddled with my hand, a small squeal escaping my lips as he plucked the black stinger from my hand. He flicks it away and begins to dab my hand with a tissue and a strong-smelling liquid.
"You should keep an eye and ear out for bees next time, we wouldn't want them to get offended and stop pollinating our flowers," Brian smiles, running back from the shed with an ice-pack and a cloth.
He places the ice-pack wrapped in a checkered cloth onto the sting, the cold compress easing the pain.
"It was an accident, I didn't mean to end that bees life like that," I explain, holding my numb hand to my chest.
"It's alright, accidents happen," Brian finally says, sitting upright against the shed with his eyes scanning the surrounding life and vegetation.
A long silence cuts between us, with only the sounds of bushes and leaves swaying in the slight breeze and the faint buzzes of bees and insects.
I had to say, the roof garden was pretty relaxing.
"Are you going to Janice Tanderz party? I heard she's having it at her parent's beach house, it gonna be wild," Brian informs making me perk my head up from my lap.
