Evan
"Where are we going exactly?" I question wearily as I dodge the bodies I zoomed past on my board.Right after school, Craig insisted we ride to a park. He practically forced me onto my board and he I was trying not to hit anyone walking peacefully on the large sidewalk with shops and store entrances next to us.
I could tell that the beach was near. The stench of fresh salt water ran up nose as I glide behind Craig on the skateboard.
I have gotten better at controlling my movements, though I wish I could control the amount of times I fell, for my sore palms and knees sake.
"You'll really like this skatepark. It's much bigger and modern than most around the school," Craig shouts, leaning left and right with ease. "I go here all the time, the only down side is that David and his friends are usually there too."
"I don't mind!" I chuckle nervously as the board beneath my feet threatened to buck me off. "I'm more concerned of me colliding with someone again."
Craig chuckles and continued to glide through walkways and crowds before flying down a ramp into a large long path.
The beach was much more in view. The twinkling blue along the horizon was almost hypnotising. The sand appeared soft and welcoming for the people laying or strolled on its surface.
The tropical palm trees swayed in the gentle wind and the warm sun finally hit my bare face.
This was nothing like Colorado and I couldn't decide whether that was good or upsetting.
"Here we are!"
Craigs chirp pulls me from my thoughts and I bounce off my board to stand beside him.
"Whoa I see why its popular," I smile, examine the large plot of concreted land filled with everything from dips and rails to ramps and jumps.
"There's a lot of people..." I trail off as the park looked to be filled with every skater boy and girl in the city.
I was somehow threatened by their display of daring tricks and jumps that I could never do.
"These people are way to cool for me."
Craig raises a brow towards me and laughs. "Nah I'm cooler."
"You wish."
Craig punches my shoulder playfully before stepping into the park and signalling me to follow.
I made sure to stay close to Craig as he trots around the dips and rails, occasionally waving at people high on the ramps before halting at a secluded area of the park.
"Okay practice here for a bit I gotta meet someone real quick," Craig pats my back before swiftly hopping on his board and gliding away.
"You're just gonna leave me?" I shout to the male, my jaw hanging in bafflement and fear.
"Im sure you can handle your own for five minutes, Ev!"
I shut my mouth as the male heads down an incline, into a crowd of kids before disappearing.
A long sigh escapes my jaws as I retrieve my board and slide off my backpack whilst hobbling to the wall of the concreted ramps.
I slide down it's surface and sit down on the cold dirty asphalt. I remove a sandwich from my backpack whilst pulling out my phone and hugged my knees to my chest.
I was halfway through the sandwich and text when the sound of metal jingling caught my attention.
I peer away from my phone as the jingle grew noisier and noisier until I realise the source.
A small white dog with dark patches sprinted around the corner of the ramp.
Its filled eyes examine me for a moment before it dives into my lap and sniffs my clothes intensely.
"You must be smelling Emily huh?" I chuckle at the small beast with his tongue lolling out the side of his mouth as he stared at the half eaten sandwich in my other hand.
No way dude, this is my samich-
I pause petting the scruffy animal as I perceived footsteps approach from around the corner before a tall figure ran past.
My brows lift and my body clenches as I'm greeted with the handsome face of David.
Oh gosh.
He seemed just as shocked to see me as I to him. He stood there, dazed like a lost kid before slumping and pointed to the animal sat neatly into my lap.
"That's... he's my... dog.."
My face flushes red with embarrassment and I rapidly stood up with the pup in my arms.
"Sorry, he just ran up to me. He must've smelled my own dog," I laugh cutely, handing the excited animal to David. "That or my food."
"Ah. He's not great on manners and doesn't really know how to listen yet," David told, lovingly stroking the dog.
"Nothing treats and some training can't fix."
Are we actually having a conversation? I thought he hated me.
David shrugs, averting his eyes. "I've tried that but he gets much to crazy over the fact that I have treats."
I chuckle, his words reminding me of the days I trained Emily. She's a very good dog but very sassy and crazy but that's what made me love her so much.
"If you'd like, I could help you teach him a few commands. I'd bring my own dog Emily too, a little doggy date!" I suggest, patting the ball of fluff in David's arms.
David went stiff, his face burning a hot pink. He hid his face with a hand and backed away, stuttering.
"I..I have t-to go."
Before I could say farewell, David slid his dog in his shirt and jumps on his skateboard, hurriedly drifting to the exit.
I watch him go, my heart skipping a beat for a split second. I settle back behind the ramp, finishing my food before a body slumps down next to me.
I flinch as Criag loudly sighs. "Did I miss anything?" He questions but doesn't look like he cared about my answer as he whipped out his phone.
I couldn't help but hold a small smile, bringing my knees back to my chest. "Nothing much."
