Evan
"Hey, how was your weekend?"I flinch as Ryan zooms pass me on his board, the wheels echoing throughout the school's corridor.
"Are you allowed to skate in the halls?" I ask, tilting my head as he smirks.
"Not exactly."
"Anyways have you seen Craig? I haven't seen him all morning and he's usually at school before us," Ryan adds, jumping off his board and held it under his arms.
I peer around through the bustling kids getting to their lockers, searching as if Craig would just pop out of nowhere with his board and goofy smile.
"Maybe he's running late," I assure, closing my locker door before jumping when my vision is blurred with red and white flowers.
I peer up and it's Brian with a bundle of roses.
He grins politely. "We had extras roses from the theatre kids order and I didn't want them to go to waste so I thought you'd want them."
Well, it's not like I can say no to a bundle of roses.
"Thanks, Brian, that's so thoughtful," I thank him and outreach my hands.
Brian is knocked forward from a body behind him. He twists and glares at David who had just walked past. They eye each other down like a pair of predators.
I began to get uneasy and rapidly took the flowers and tucked them in my hands. "Thanks, Brian, I'll put them in a vase when I get home."
Brian beams, fondness flickering in his eyes as he says his farewell and treks down the hall, most likely to his locker.
I reopen my locker and gently place the flowers to stay upright in the metal casket. I feel a hand prod my arm.
Ryan was still next to me, wiggling his brows playfully.
"What?" I question.
He stares at me like I just told him an exaggerated story and signals to Brian's fading body disappearing amongst the moving crowd.
"What do you mean, what? Brian just gave you a bouquet of roses, he's totally into you."
I lightly punch his arm. "What? No! We're friends! We're in the gardening club together and occasionally we have extra plants our clients don't need."
"And if they can't be replanted, we usually give them away as a gift," I add, collecting my books and hugged them to my chest.
"Bull!" Ryan prompts boldly, stepping in front of me. "You should ask him out."
I'm furious about the idea. I was already with someone, David and it was so annoying that I couldn't say that out loud.
"I'm not totally into dating at the moment," I bluff, nudging past him.
Ryan snorts. "You'll turn down Brian Hanby? Are you nuts? He's like the hottest guy in our grade and it's time for a pretty boy like you, to date someone like him."
Ryan smiles, booping my nose.
I roll my eyes and caught the eye of David peering over to me. He was with his own circle of friends, one I recognised as Tyler. Tyler looked rather miserable, he was staring at his feet with a long frown. Marcel was trying to comfort him.
I give David a faint smile, wanting nothing more than to pad up to him and give him a giant hug. But with all these eyes and our different groups around, I had to refrain myself.
We couldn't let anyone know.

"Are you alright?" David asks worriedly, sliding off his board and pads up to me. "You look like you just had a nightmare."
