PROLOGUE
Ever since I was fourteen, my obsession had been vampires. My dad said it was just a phase, my mother the religious woman that she was, or still is sent me to church, bible study, the works. And my brothers and sisters, didn't associate with me much. I was the black sheep of the house, and I guess that the way I liked it.
It was better to be different that's what my first crush had told me back in grade school, Connie Lee. She was beautiful, long black hair, perfect brown almond eyes and soft smooth skin. I liked her, never loved her just some puppy love. I tried girls with big boobs in middle school, didn't care. I tried girls with a big butt in high school, didn't suit me. Then there was the undead. The living night. That was beautiful. Smooth cold skin, an evil seductive grin and a body that just didn't get old. Sure a few flaws but I could be a night guy.
So here I am in an overly cold apartment with rude neighbors trying to make a living. I don't have a girlfriend, I stopped looking after I'd asked some blonde girl if she'd wear fake vampire teeth and bite my neck. She had said she wanted to role play; I gave her a role and she didn't play. College girls could be so cruel. Except one.
A girl had thought I was funny in one of our classes, she'd stopped by my dorm late one night. We talked for a little bit outside. She was a night person and I respected that about her. She was tall, elegant and something screamed royalty. I'd asked her why me she smiled and kissed my lips, 'because' rolled of her tongue onto my questionable lips. I'd woken up with a card in my hand, it was dark and said the same word she whispered on my lips on one side and Amber Drake on the other.
I was tall, lanky not too buff really. I had auburn colored hair and brown eyes. Just an average Jo. Nothing special about me, I had a weird obsession like everyone else. I was single like most men my age but I didn't go hit anything that had tits and ass.
Next week I'd start my job at The Weekly Eagle, work for a low wage, for more than enough hours. But I'd do it cause I loved it. I pulled out the card and stared at it, she was right, because was the only reason I was working for terrible pay. I could have a cushy job working for my dad. But it was her word that made me stop. 'Because.'
More so I'd blend in like everyone in my family wanted, I wouldn't be the black sheep anymore. I'd be just plain Aaron Clark for the rest of forever.
