It was a terrifying walk home, between the screams and the hundreds of people falling from tall buildings and others being slain with that terrible purple light. "So this is how its going to be unless I can stop it." More or less I was talking to myself, not thinking of Maggie--Robin.
"Uhh Aaron excuse me," I looked down at her small body clinging to my side, "I would like to be called Robin." Robin, it suited her, the dark mysterious look she got when she thought. "I really like that name." She took my hand, they were so cold, but still a child's hand.
"Ya not a problem. I just hope my girlfriend won't mind." She smiled and began to sing the same song Amber had sang the night before. I had so many questions for her, but it was too late, we made it back to the apartment building.
I unlocked the door and was bombarded with hugs and kisses from Amber. "Aaron, love you are okay." Between each kiss there was a small breath, her hands never left my cheeks.
"Yes I'm fine and I kind of have a little bit of news." She stood up straight and bared a fang.
"Who is she." Her long finger pointed at Robin, who was kneeling, blonde curls covering her face. Her face twisted into a slight smile.
"Robin, I am Robin." She stood up and smirked at Amber. "Your majesty, we have been looking for you." Robin was no longer a little girl, but a grown woman. I jumped back, now behind the counter.
'Aaron, you brought home a little girl, who the hell is that? Okay its cool you're not crazy. You have just been subjected to the world of vampires.' I had a beer in my hand, shaking trying to calm my nerves.
"So you can just change your age like that?" Nervous laughter, it wasn't like I had been scared just shocked. "I mean you were a little girl and now you are a beautiful woman." Amber crossed her arms and sneered. A jealous woman was never a happy one.
"Yes, her name is Maggie and she is a servant of mine, or I guess a protector. She has that special ability, to shape shift at anytime. Become whoever she feels necessary."
I was confused then what happened to--"The real Maggie, the little girl."
"She died a year ago in her sleep, the same time that Mistress Drake was kidnapped, so I took the place and dug the grave of little Maggie. Her parents had no idea." Her clothes were tight fitting and too small. I wish so bad to have been invisible.
They talked about the past for hours and then finally turned to me. It was my turn, I was grossly entranced by my game of hearts. Three beautiful women in my house with me and my best friend.
============================================================================
"The plan is to simply drop by your dad's place and tell him the solution and come back home, tell him the meeting will be set up and everything will be all peachy again." I didn't remove my eyes from the screen. I was scared, I had no clue what would happen how things would turn out. 'Aaron opt out, leave go hide. Do what you do best. Why even do this? Because.'
That damn word got me into this mess. I wanted a normal life, to have a closet obsession and be as flaky as I could. Enjoy my job and to take in terrible pay. Maybe marry maybe have kids. Who knew?
Clearly no one cared or I was just being selfish. "Aaron, get some sleep we can discuss this later."
"NO!" Finally the frustration caught up to me. The anguish, hurt, pain and sleepless nights. "We need to talk about this now!" I slammed my computer shut and slammed my fists against the table. I didn't want to die.
"Aaron!" Amber walked up to me, the tension was rising.
"Shut up and listen to me. I don't want to die!" Sweat was dripping down and I could feel the heat in the room.
"How dare you!" Raising her hand towards me, I wish she had killed me then. I could have died a flake.
"Amber I love you I really do, but I don't want to die. I want to be with you but I don't see that happening anymore. You need to listen to me. Hate me later, that is fine but all of these surprises are going to get me killed! I need answers. Now!!!"
Tears fell from her face, the long hair was pulled back revealing a full thick oval face. I wanted to take her in my arms and hold her, be with her forever, die for her if necessary. I wasn't a man without her, just the same little flake.
"Fine I'll tell you everything." Robin had left the room, she went out to scout around. Randy and Lily took Roger for a walk around the building.
I took off my shirt, I didn't want to talk, I hadn't felt her cool skin against mine in weeks, I missed her touch the way she kissed me. "Amber." I got down to her, looking in her eyes, she removed her top and kissed me leaning in gentle at first. Harder, longer and deeper, the ember was sparked, a roaring fire of passion was lit. We made love, it felt like every pain had been lifted from me when she kissed me.
The moonlight illuminated her pale smooth skin, her dark hair falling in layers down her back. "I am afraid of losing you." I pulled her into my chest. In love, that was what I was, I needed advice on what to do. I texted my sister Beth, she was the love guru of the family. All I got was that I needed to listen to my heart when the time was right, I'd have to make a decision. 'Love Honestly--Not Blindly.'
"Amber I have a plan but we'll need to prepare and leave by Monday night." She nodded, and left me in the room, I watched her leave the room, my robe hugging her like a glove.
"All that was done will be forgiven, all that is judged is judged by God alone." Damn, women are confusing. I could figure out how to save the world, but I couldn't figure out how to tell her how I felt without being an asshole before.
Plan B, finally setting into motion. I hope it works. Forgive what was done. Love honestly not blindly. To all my readers, stay posted and let me know.
