AMBER’S POV
“Princess stop pacing you’re making me nervous” I had been pacing for an hour, trying to figure out how to escape from Catherine. I wanted to go find Aaron. I wanted everything to go back to normal. “Oh Catherine I cannot do that” she stared me down with her wide blue eyes. I had been stuck in the damn castle for seventeen hours and had not heard word about him. “Bloody well you can’t! Sit down princess!” I stopped pacing to really look at her.
“You are not my Catherine. Who are you” I bared my fangs, preparing to have fought my way out. To find him was worth it all. Treason was far better than living an eternal lifetime with a broken heart. “Ahhh you’re a smart one” I stepped back trying to consider what limited options I had. “Who or what are you?” I stepped back closer to the wall. I had only one shot to make it out. I ran like hell, barely making it out of the door into the long winding corridor.
“Why is he doing this?” ‘Damn him, it has always been me, since I was born it has always been about me. I don’t want it. I want to be happy! Damn him!!!’ I ran farther down the hall, getting no where. “Damn you!” I hit my fist against the wall. I wish I hadn’t been so selfish, I wish I could have protected him better. But he—he protected me. I ran until I finally reached the temple room. It was low and dark and there were always new victims. I won’t let it happen again. Not to him…just not to him. “Father!!!!” He was with a guy I had never seen before, his eyes were bluer than the sky and his smile was flawless, except for the set of vampire fangs. He was gorgeous.
“Darling, perfect timing. I see you got away from Bridgett. Well done” I slapped away his awaiting arms and folded my own. “Damn you” I felt a hand across my face and then the tears fell, “Bite your tongue” I held my face, trying to push back the tears. “I won’t—I” “I said hold your tongue!” He began to growl deep in his throat. I looked up at the man with those blue eyes, his hand reached out for mine. “My princess”
“Daughter this is your fiancé, I’ve decided to relinquish my powers to him” “No!!!!” I tried to run but that guy grabbed me, there was something different about this vampire. I had never been scared before I met him. “Princess, please don’t run. I don’t like it when I have to chase my meals” He licked his lips then ran his tongue down my neck. “Bastard—where is he? Where did you put him?” My father walked up to me, “My dear he thinks you’re dead. So my plan is in full blossom” His finger scaled my cheek and he left me alone with the creep.
“Why are you doing this? Who are you? What are you? Please let me go find him. He’ll do something stupid!” His lips pressed against mine, I felt weaker and weaker until I was on the floor. “You taste delicious my princess” “Please let me find him”
“Darling looks like you are awake now” “Father I won’t marry him!!” I shook my head relieving my eyes from the tears, my hands were tied behind my back. “But my dear he was chosen” My temper is one of my most deadly flaws, “I will let this whole clan die!”
My father’s face was turned from anger to shock to disbelief. I would kill off my own people to save the life of one man. “Don’t say such things!” I had managed to wriggle myself loose and pull out a knife. “I don’t care if he is human, if he is give him your venom then it won’t matter anymore!” I held the knife to my heart, shaking like I had been frozen. “Daughter!” I shook my head trying to clear my mind.
There wasn’t much to say with a knife being held to your own throat trying to save someone else’s’ life.”Da—daddy! I won’t marry him!” I pointed with my shaking free hand to that man, that thing. He was still unknown to me and I wanted to keep it that way. “He cannot breed children without an heir and I’m the only one left!” My father looked at me and pointed to a door, it creaked open and there was the real Catherine holding Aaron.
