I rushed into my apartment, making sure the door was locked before I called her. "Are you calling me?" I looked up and there she was, in a short plum cocktail dress. Her hair was in curls, caressing her back. Her phone was in her hand and a questionable look on her face.
"Oh well yes I was--how did you get in my house?" She smiled, those seductive lips turning into a beautiful grin.
"Well I guess there are a lot of things you don't know about me." I shoved my phone into my pocket. She walked toward me, her black pumps silent on the cherry-wood floor.
'Deep breathes man, she is only a vampire. A goddess of the night.' That soft smooth skin touching my body. Her hand against my chest, I knew she could feel my heart pounding.
"Have you ever thought about me? Being with you?" She circled me her finger trailing around me. Peaches and cinnamon.
"Uhhh--well" Heat flushed through me. This was too good to be true, how do you say no and how do you say yes. I was an honest man, I didn't have anything to lose. "Yes."
"Good, I knew I could come to you." She stopped inches from my face. Her eyes looking up into mine. Honey flowed deeper like pools of liquid gold, mixing with the sorrow I'd seen in my dreams. "So I should tell you who I really am."
She went to the couch, I got us a couple of beers. "So I'm going to guess and say that you were lying to me in the beginning. You're the kidnapped princess."
"Yes how'd you know that though?" I choked on my beer. "Oh you didn't know that?" I shook my head. "Damn."
"Oh God." I ran my fingers through my dusty hair. "I didn't know that. I was just guessing. This is bad. I want to help, but I don't see how I'm really supposed to be bringing peace." She took my hands in hers.
"Look Aaron, just listen for a minute. I know you know a hunter I can smell her on you. I need to know what is going on. I won't lose my father. I won't let there be another war." She leaned in.
"Okay what do you expect me to do. I can't just walk up to her--"She kissed me, I felt every hair on my body stand up. The heat was rising throughout my body. She smiled, she could feel my heart racing.
She grabbed my face, her nails clawing at my face. "I want you so bad. Since the first day we met." I could see the tears running down her cheeks. "I just want to go home."
"She said that they are going to use you to draw in your father and kill him." I felt like I'd just betrayed a friend. "This is bad, this bad. How are we going to--wait you want to be with me?" She nodded, I wiped the tear from her eye.
We got up and went to the kitchen, I looked down at my phone.
It was a text message from Diana.
We've got to stop them, they're changing too many people. They're building an army. This will not go over well. Call me later.
"So does this mean you're like my official girlfriend?" Another smile. Either honesty gets you everywhere, or she was just using me.
The moon was high in the night, and everywhere you could see the flashes of purple and the screams of innocent people being changed into creatures of the night. The war was rising, somehow I'd bring the princess back home.
"Shut up and kiss me already." she pulled me in, I prayed she wasn't hungry. "Are you always this scared when you're around a girl."
"No I just, well I should tell you something. I'm terrified, I don't know how to get you all the way home. I don't know how to help you." My heart was spacy. In out, fast slow, go stop.

Maybe secretly in another life I was a sex machine, because twice in one day was more than amazing. The one girl who'd understood me, was a stolen princess and now my girlfriend. We made love until she was breathing so hard, I couldn't hear my heart beat anymore. She laid under the sheets, they looked like they were painted on. Her long black hair was frizzy, the curls were very loose now. She stroked my face, her fingers were icy cold.
"I want to ask you something, and you can ask me whatever you'd like." She nodded her head. Those beautiful eyes, shone in the moonlight. "What are you afraid of?"
Fear stole away in her eyes, "Well to be quite honest I don't know now. For now I'll tell you this one thing. I am afraid of the light." she turned over and didn't speak to me the rest of the night. I ran my finger down the curves of her body. We laid close that night, her icy body against mine. I was falling.
Before I went to bed, I whispered to her, "I think I'm just afraid of losing you."
The war was boiling, hate and resentment. I was dating the last heir to the underworld.
