"Man I'm scared." Randy was leaning against the bar, his eyes were red and his voice raspy. He loved Lily in a silent way, the way a night silently would love his princess. "What if she didn't make it." He was just talking to be talking, trying to ease his nerves.
"Trust me, Amber finds ways to surprise you." He smiled, he looked filthy like he hadn't showered in days. I noticed the strain in his eyes, he hadn't slept either. "Dude go shower I'm sure when you get out Lily will be ready to see you." He shrugged and trudged slowly down the hallway.
Amber walked out like we were the only ones, the buttons on my shirt only half way up and blood dripping down her chin, and fangs. She was the reason I wanted to prove my father wrong, vampires weren't bad people. Her long dark hair braided in pleats down the left side, and the glass behind her back.
"Errr ummm, Amber are you okay." Her eyes were dark blood stained and hollow. She got closer and closer. "I swear I don't taste good." She stopped. It wasn't her, it was like someone or something was inside of her. A beast she wanted hidden.
I dug in the fridge, looking way deep in the back looking back every few seconds. "Yes!" Pigs blood, lucky Randy's dad was a butcher.
I rushed over to her and took the already bloody glass from her hand, she stood frozen and amiss. Amber wasn't there. "Help me." She clawed at my arm, cutting up my shirt and through to my arm. "Please help me."
"I can't help you until you drink this." She sniffed the glass and chugged it down, she threw her hair back. When she decided to look forward, the glint of honey revealed itself. "Amber?"
She jumped me. 'Oh God I'm going to die. Right now? Come on I thought I was doing a good job at being human.' she held me like the Amber I knew. I felt the tears stain through my shirt, they were so warm and full of sorrow.
"Aaron." We sat on the couch, finally Roger popped out of the darkness of "his" room. I smiled, we could be like a happy family. Randy came out and sat on the edge of the couch staring at the mid afternoon sun.
"Randy you know that you love her." He nodded, his hand around his scraggly chin. "Then I'm afraid its time to choose." He shot me a dirty glance.
"This isn't my fucking dream, this is yours Aaron. You were the one who wanted this. Why am I the one forced to choose?" He stood up and threw his arms, his dark hair was uncombed and unruly. "Aaron I hate you." Pacing, his pacing got faster and faster.
"How dare you say that, you have no idea what he is going through!" Amber walked up to him, her curvaceous body was so threatening when she wanted it to be. Her shoulders tensed and her legs thick and rigid.
"My whole entire world is turning into a vampire. The only girl I've ever been in love with is becoming a vampire. I am in love with her, don't you understand that." The tears were brimming. His tall dark figured looked diminished and small. "I love her, can you at least say that about Aaron!?" He pointed a thick finger in my direction.
She stormed off, her hair in less of a braid now more so a large wavy mess. She had run off to our room where Lily was.
===============================================================================
"Dude!" I ran at him, I had never hated him I had never been angry with him, he had gone to far. "NO, you don't understand. I wish I could be the vampire, I wish I could be with Amber all the time. I can't you have the chance to be with Lily forever and you won't take it!" War was rising, friends, lovers, co-workers were being turned against each other.
"Oh now I'm the bad guy?" This was bad, I didn't want to lose him he was like the only brother who believed in me.
"No you're not. I am and I'm sorry." I drooped into the couch and sat there staring into his deep eyes. I searched him. He was calming down.
"Randy..." A small voice, Lily. "Please stop fighting." She walked to him, her eyes were like light crystals in the sun light. Nosy like my dog trying to see everything, attempting to bring light to every situation. Her hand rubbed his face, she leaned in and kissed him. "I'm sorry it took for me to be like this to do that."
"Amber I think you know my decision." She led him to the back room and bit him, inserting her venom into his body. It didn't take as long for him. This time I was able to help with the blood donating.
We didn't talk much, considering it was two-ish by the time everyone was situated. Randy and Lily hand fallen asleep in my bed and stayed that way. Quiet--finally my peace and quiet. 'Amber I love you. I just think you should know that.' She leaned in to me, we sat on the couch and fell asleep. My lazy dog Roger had gotten his fill of excitement for the day and went back to sleep at my feet.
