Emilyyy"....I could hear the sound of a familiar voice calling.

"Jacob" Is that you?

As I came into to sight with Jacob, I let out a breath knowing it's not Marcus.

"So who slammed the front door?" I questioned in my head.

Putting it behind me, I focused on Jacob who looked a bit confused.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"I think I feel sick Em".

I quickly checked his temperature and he was burning up. I took him to his room, where I put him to lay down and scurried to make him a pot of chicken noodle soup.

~~
As I headed towards the kitchen, I felt like someone was following behind me. I spun around in fear, but there were no one. Trying my best to ignore it, I could still feel a lingering presence hovering over me.

I quickly put the pot of chicken noodle soup on the stove and left it heat up.

As I stood there to wait for the soup to be ready, I could hear the crying sound of the kitchen back door. Standing there panicking, I quickly turned off the stove, even though I was unable to tell if it's fully cooked, and I rushed into Jacob's room

I hastily opened the door, spilling a little bit of soup on my hand. As I entered the room, I saw Jacob's lifeless body laying on the bed.

"Jacob, Jacob" I called, but he was unresponsive.

I hurried to him in panic.

"He's burning up" I thought to myself.

I made my way to the bathroom cabinet to find some medicine and a cold towel to lay on his forehead. As I open the cabinet, I found some Panadol sitting there. Quickly grabbing it up along with a damp cloth, I spun around and saw Jacob standing right behind me.

"Gasp, what are you doing in here? Get to bed".

I carried him to lay down and gave him the Panadol with some water, while resting the towel on his forehead . Within 20 minutes he was around sleeping, so I left him to rest while I carried the empty bowl downstairs.

~~
It's been about 4 hours and Marcus still hasn't got home yet.

"Where is he?" I thought to myself.

As I was about to put the dishes away, I heard a thudding noise coming from the porch. I cautiously headed to the direction of the noise.
As I reached the porch, I noticed there was a loose board on the floor.

"What is it with this house and loose boards".

I dragged one of the porch chairs on the board to prevent the annoying sound.

As I turned around, I saw a shadowy figure passed right through the living room. Standing still in fear, I could feel my pores on my body raising.

Nonchalantly making my way to the living room, what felt like forever, I finally entered the living room but I didn't see anything.

"Cling cling" the loud sound of the dishes shattering. I raced into the kitchen but there were no broken dishes.

"Whattttt" I said in a whisper.

Stepping back slowly away from the kitchen, I stumbled into a hard body.

"Marcus!!!" I screamed.

"Wha....what are you doing?"

"Well I live here too remember?!"

"Are you okay?"

Look like you've seen a ghost.

As I stared at his tall figure in confusion, I questioned, "I didn't hear you get in".

"Yeah, I'm good at sneaking around" he winked and said to me.

I stared at him as he made his way into the living room.

"Soo where did you go that long?"

"Uhh...just to run some errands".

"Where's Jacob?"

"He's not feeling well, he's sleeping".

As I was about to tell him about what happened, I was interrupted by a phone call.

"Hailey" I said in a whispering tone.

Hailey: hey, why are you whispering? Anyway I just saw Marcus at the store and he wanted me to tell you his phone died and he's on his way home.

"What do mean Hailey, Marcus is right in the living room on his phone.

Hailey: what!! That can't be he literally just left, and that drive is like 20 minutes away.

With that I dropped my phone and all I could feel is the vibration of the phone smashing into pieces on the floor. Shakily I slowly turned around to the sight of no one in the living room.

Yet, the words Marcus still managed to escape my lips. Fearful of what might happen next, I rushed into Jacob's room where I saw him laying on the bed.
Frantically, I managed to pack Jacob's and my bags. I started to wake him up from his sleep with tears escaping my eyes.

"Where you off too?"

"Gasp, Marcus!! please stay there."

"Emily, what's wrong?"

"Nooo....don't come any closer".

I'm taking Jacob and we're leaving.

"Emily baby, I don't know what's going on, but let me help you ok".

"Emily" I heard a sound of a sleepy voice said from behind me.

Jacob we need to leave now ok, I grabbed ahold of his hands as we tried to move pass Marcus. As I reached the bedroom door where Marcus was standing, he gripped my arms tightly possibly leaving a mark.

" please don't go Emily".

"I'm sorry".
