A dark place was where she was, or that was what she thought while she was still unconscious. However, she was able to slowly open her eyes after hearing a large thud, her vision gradually clearing up, her senses starting to flow back. She wanted to hold her head and stretch her feet, but was unable to do so because she could not lift her hands, nor move her feet. It took awhile for her to realise that her hands and feet were tied to the chair, and in front of her was nothing but a steel grey table with a few chairs. The suffocation was too much for her and she tried to find her voice which was trapped inside her throat before screaming as loud as she could. She continuously screamed, for about a minute, until the door finally opened.
A bulky man wearing shades and a suit entered the room. Olivia could see how displeased he was but she still had the courage to speak. "Let me go. I haven't done anything to you."
"Not until the boss sees you." He inscrutably replied but before he could say anything else, his earpiece vibrated and he pressed it as he spoke into it. "You want to see her? Copy that." He moved towards her and untied her feet and hands. "Follow me."
They walked out of the room and crossed the large corridor which was made up of metal wall panels. Even the floor was metallic, and she realised this place was secretive and probably well hidden. "What is this place?" She asked only to have no response from the bulky man. "Okay, don't answer that. What is your name?"
"Brutus." He replied with no interest. This man was not communicative. He was in fact very boring and useless, something that annoyed Olivia to the core. "We're here." He opened the door and pushed her in before following her.
"You've brought her." The man sitting behind the work desk, who had his chair turned, uttered. However, the fresh lavender smelling office with lavish furnishing had Olivia's attention. It made her feel so pleasant. The glass windows allowed sunlight to enter the cold steely room and warm it up to give a spring feeling which was completely uplifting. All she now wanted to see was the man behind that chair. "Turn your chair so that I can see you."
A chuckle was heard and he turned his chair. She froze on the spot. Her heart almost stopped for a second but instead of completely stopping, it gradually began to thunder loudly inside of her. "It's you."
He gestured Brutus to leave them alone and Olivia to sit. She, however, was too awestruck to even move her eyes. "Why would you kidnap me and bring me here? I saved you yesterday."
"You did." His lips slightly curved up and he gestured her to sit again. She moved very steadily and sat on the chair in front of his desk. "I got you here because I want to reward you." He lifted his cup of tea and had a small sip. "But after I investigated you, I thought to myself; do you really deserve it?"
"You what? How much do you know?" She almost shouted. "You are the Agency!"
"Correct. I am the Agency. Brutus is the Agency. We all are the Agency. You're a smart one." He had another sip of his tea. "There's not much to know about you, Olivia. You're a thief. And you're deceiving your grandmother."
"Please, keep my gran out of this." She clenched her hands tightly in order to hold back her tears, but her emotions were evident by her shaky broken voice. This made the man stare at her deeply. "What do you want me to do, sir?"
"I'm glad you asked." He folded both of his heavily tattooed arms across his chest and gradually moved closer. Olivia realised he had only one eye. His other eye had no iris or pupil. It was a blind white eye which had a deep scar above and below it, as if someone tried to stab and take out his eyeball but could only leave a scratch across his eye. However, his present golden eye was beautiful. It glistened in the sunlight and made him look winsome. If he had both of his golden eyes, he would have been a beautiful sight to anyone. "I want you to stop stealing."
"Then where will I earn from?" Olivia muttered, too captivated by his appearance, his perfectly chiseled jawline leading down to his tattooed neck, and his compact lips that seldom turned into a smile.
"You will work with the Agency." He sat back on his seat, snapping Olivia back to the reality. "Also, whatever you've stolen, you have to repay it to me."
"What are you saying! How will I ever repay? And why do I have to give it to you?" She angrily stood up.
"You should have thought before stealing all of it." He got on his feet in fury as well, lightly banging the table. "Olivia, you don't know who we are. You better not mess with us and you better do as I say." He rummaged the folder in front of him and pulled out a document, holding it in front of Olivia. "This is the total amount you owe me. If you fail to give it to me, I will send all the proof I have against you to the police. It could result a lifetime in prison for you."
The document consisted of all the thieveries committed by Olivia along with their dates and times. This left Olivia dumbfounded and the total amount calculated gave chills down her spine. "Two hundred thousand dollars? Look sir, it will take me at least one year to get this money."
"Yes, but you're working with the agency now. We will cut about fifty percent of your monthly salary to contribute to the money you owe me." He sat down again and started drinking his tea, which, by now, was cold.
"Fine." She sighed. "What work do I have to do?"
"My agents will brief you. First, we go through the formalities of greeting you and having you registered as one of us." Gently, he placed the cup of tea back on its original spot and pressed his earpiece as he murmured into it.
Soon enough, the door opened and there came a large crowd of people. But these weren't normal people. They were all youngsters dressed in funky ways. However, Olivia squealed in fear upon seeing a hunky walking cat which had the body of a human but the head of a cat.
"Relax, he's a result of an experiment. Isn't that right Meowscles?" The man got up and walked out of his desk with his hands behind his back. His sleek figure went and stood at the centre of the room, where everyone circled him. "Agents, we know that things have been running smoothly. But there's always room for one more." His gaze moved and landed on Olivia. "We are recruiting this little bird. Olivia Benson, you're one of us."
All the agents stared at Olivia, who couldn't find even a single nerve in her to move an inch. The man chuckled and continued. "How rude of me. I forgot to introduce everyone. The catman, or whatever you want to call him, is Meowscles."
Meowscles' eyes widened and his tiny lips slowly rolled into a smile as he waved at Olivia.
"Then we have Brutus. You met him previously. After which, it's TNTina. That's her codename. You can call her Tina."
The girl with messy brunette hair and a bright red top smirked goofily. This was Tina and Olivia could see why she used the codename 'TNTina'. She was armed with explosives.
"Then that's Skye over there. She's all brains and creativity."
Although young, this one seemed reserved. Skye wore a camera around her neck and a cap which kept shaking every once in awhile, something that was fascinating.
"And last but not the least, that's Maya. She's good with disguises."
Maya had no expression on her face. Despite this, she still winked at Olivia. A bewildering act.
"Now, we have just one more member who keeps disappearing." The man looked around before clapping. His claps were followed by a loud shaky sound which seemed to originate from the bookshelf. The bookshelf rotated and presented another peculiar creature.
This time it was a human sized walking banana, and just looking at it made Olivia dizzy. "Why does everyone here look like a freak? I'm so sure this is some kind of a funny dream."
"It isn't." The man smirked. "That's Peely, one of our experiments too."
"This is unbelievable. No one here looks like a normal human being except for Brutus." Olivia laughed in a scornful way. "I'm losing my head."
"You're not. This is the Agency. Remember what I told you? You don't know who we are. But you will learn soon." The man said this in a serious tone, gravely staring at Olivia.
She stared at him with detestation before realising he never introduced himself. "And who would you be?"
"My name," he walked towards her and moved way too close, something that made Olivia nervous, "is Midas."
