When her eyes fluttered open, her heart dropped upon realising this wasn't a dream. She hastily jumped out of her bed and cluelessly glanced around. Although her body was well rested, her mind wasn't at rest because this place felt like a prison to her, but Olivia did have a plan that was planted inside her mind. She would escape this place when everyone else was asleep, but she wouldn't leave empty handed. Midas's room was a treasury that she had dreamed to see her entire life, and it wouldn't be fair if she left without picking up a few golden offerings from there. She slowly tiptoed towards the door and opened it to check if someone was outside. Surprisingly, the place seemed barren as the lights were shut and there was not a single sentry camera that was on guard. Shutting the door behind her, she hurried to Midas's office cautiously, and upon reaching the door, she carefully unlocked it to find the front office empty, to her relief. Before tiptoeing towards the shelf, her eyes glanced around to look for any valuables that she could sweep but found none. Her hand reached and pulled the book that allowed the bookshelf entrance to open, her feet once again entering Midas's grand office.

The statues, the golden heads, there were so many things that she could grab and leave but her mind was focused on grabbing that one thing; Midas's beloved golden gloves that he wore at all times. Ever since she arrived to the agency, she noticed Midas wearing those shiny golden gloves, which traced to the golden tattoos on his arms. They blended in so perfectly with his skin, and she knew that these unique gloves would be sold for a fortune. She gradually sauntered towards Midas's bed behind the display of the golden heads, her heart beating because of the risk she was willing to take. Once close enough, the bed in the perfect centre was visible and a figure lay on it. It was Midas. He was still wearing the gloves despite being asleep, but he seemed to be a heavy sleeper for Olivia had taken weighty steps that failed to wake him up. She quietly moved towards him and reached to grab his hand covered with the cold metallic glove, and she tried to carefully remove it but it wouldn't come off. Her arms exerted more force, although she knew she had to be careful not to wake him up, but it was in vain.

"I was wondering when you would show up." Midas uttered these words, his eyes still shut but a smirk formed about his lips which startled Olivia and withdrew her breath. She almost jumped but Midas grabbed her arm and pulled her close. "Why are you doing this?" He stared into her eyes, coldly and sternly, as to freeze her on the spot.

Olivia could not move, nor could she comprehend the fact that Midas was awake. She tried to free her arm but his grip was tough and she knew she had to remain calm. "I came to check up on you."

He let out a chuckle. "On me?" He then loosened the grip and stared at his hand. "Try removing it."

She didn't understand why he asked for such a thing, but she still grabbed his glove and tried hard to pull it out. Her body gave all the strength but the stubborn glove was stuck on his hand. However, it was also this moment when Olivia glimpsed at Midas's face and he slightly winced upon receiving so much of pressure on his hand. "I can't remove it."

"Because this is my hand. It's no glove." He pulled his hand towards himself and stretched his fingers, which were now tired from all the exertion.

But Olivia was dumbfounded. More and more mysteries seemed to find their way and present themselves in front of her, while she couldn't process any thoughts. "Why is it made up of gold?"

"This is my skin. Cold and priceless. This is who I am, Olivia. I am made up of gold." Midas spoke softly so that she could process these details. However, it was clearly visible on her face that she could not digest whatever she had seen during the entire day. "And now that you know this secret, I'm afraid I cannot let you escape. I will simply kill you if you do try."

"What do you want from me?" She had never felt this weak in her entire life and she was vulnerable in front of this man, someone she had barely known for a day.

"You will thank me for keeping you here, with the Agency. You now know that we are not the ones you should mess with, and if you become one of us, no one will dare to harm you."

"But no one was harming me! I was living peacefully with my gran." Her eyes let the tears release and they rolled down her face. These tears were enough to stun Midas and he had no idea as to what he should be saying. But those tears reminded him of someone dear to him, and he could not bear watching her cry.

"Stop crying. Do you know you have a criminal record? If I didn't bring you here, those townsfolk would have somehow found out that you were committing all those thieveries and they would have made your entire life a living hell. I cannot just watch and do nothing when Mari's granddaughter is ruining two peoples' lives, including her own."

"Why do you know my gran? She's the most reserved person out there and she would never associate herself with freaks like you." Olivia wiped her tears away and frowned deeply.

"You'd be surprised." He whispered under his breath, inaudible enough to not be heard by her.

"I saved your life when you were dying near those dumpsters all alone. I should have just gone my way instead of taking you to the hospital." She tried to stand up and leave, but Midas grabbed her arm and pulled her towards the bed. Instead of falling on the bed, she moved in way too close to Midas. She could feel his breath on her skin, the warmth of his flesh radiating and his one golden eye being fixed on her.

"This is fate, and you can't change it." His cold voice was an icy breeze that battled with the warmth of Olivia's face. "I will tell you about the Agency, it might bring you some peace."

Olivia moved her face away from him, but fixed herself so that she was sitting with her back facing him. "Go on."

He exhaled before beginning the entire explanation, for it was to be a detailed one. "The Agency, as the name suggests, is the home of all the agents out there. We are everywhere in the world, although what appears here is only a handful of us. Like normal agents, we get hired by powerful people to spy for them. Sometimes, we even kill for them. But right now, there are two powerful factions playing about; the Ghost and the Shadow. What we are doing is stealing the intel from the Ghost and Shadow before we could choose a faction to join for ourselves. I need you here for this. After running a background check on you, I realised how fit you are to be an agent, and that too a sneaky one who is good enough to be putting up a facade and swiping the intel."

There was a long silence, a gap which was much needed as Olivia absorbed all that information. "Will you let me go if I steal enough intel for you?"

"Why do you want to leave?" Midas questioned.

"Because I have a grandmother to look after. All my life, I have thought about nothing but her. She comes before my own life. I would happily sacrifice myself for her." She turned around to face Midas, her eyes tearful again.

"Fine. But if I do let you go, you don't mention a word of us to anyone. Even if you do, no one will believe you. Instead, they will call you a mad girl and go against you." He replied sternly.
