Seulgi, Jennie, and Chaeyoung took care of Jisoo while I went out for lunch with Lisa wanting to go with me. When I got my take-out, I told her we should stay on the rooftop since it had a much better atmosphere than the hospital's cafeteria.
"I don't think we should push through with the wedding," I said directly, making Lisa painfully look at me. It's painful for me too, but I'm honest about this. Tears started forming in her eyes as she stared at me, trying to see if I was joking. Which I wasn't.
"W-What?" She weakly mutters.
"We can't get married like this, Lis. Not when your heart belongs to her,"
"H-Hyun, you can't make decisions like this for us," She said, getting a little mad. "I'm not a toy where you suddenly say to stop this." She cries.
"This isn't easy for me too, Lis." I slowly slid my hand to reach hers and held it softly. "You still love her. I know how you tried so hard to forget." Lisa continued crying as she slowly shook her head, telling me I was wrong.
"The moment you met her again, It seemed like all your feelings came back. The moment you knew about her condition, the more you were afraid and cared."
"You don't know what you're saying," She denies.
"I've seen it, Lis." I squeezed her hand. "You need her more than I need you. And she needs you more than ever." I swallowed thickly. Our intertwined hands shake. "Please don't deny your feelings. You need to be there for my sister Lisa. She needs you." I bit my lip, squinting my eyes shut to avoid tears from falling.
"I-I'm sorry,"
"I know, but you don't have to be. I was the one who tried to get through to you even though Jisoo was the one all along. It was selfish of me. Don't be guilty. Because this isn't fair to either of us if we keep ignoring this."
"P-Please, st-stop."
"You are not truly happy with me."
"Joohyun," Her voice cracked.
"I love you. And I know you love me too. But you don't belong to me." With that, we both cried our hearts out. "It never stops hurting until we do something," I said, and she just nodded.
Lisa's been denying that she still loves Jisoo to avoid hurting me. But I've seen it all. "You can't ever fight with love, Lisa. It's stronger than you think."
"I'm so sorry."
I didn't want to hurt her. But this will hurt us both if we keep this going. I only want to make things right.
"There were moments where I truly loved you." I could only hum in agreement. We had our fair share of good memories, and I'll treasure them.
"And I thank you for being part of my life. Those were the happiest." I smiled as she cried further. "But I know I'll be happier someday," I added as I leaned my forehead against hers.
After calming ourselves down, I grabbed Lisa's hand as we headed out. "I know it's a lot to take in. It's a lot to take in for me as well. It still pains me to think you'll walk away from my life. Don't ever be guilty about us, okay?"
"You'll be happy. And I'll be happy too. Not now, but someday," I say and kiss Lisa on the forehead.

"How about we go visit Jisoo?" All I could do was nod. "She needs to know,"
Joohyun's words kept floating in my head. It was a lot to take in, and I hung my head as she dragged me toward Jisoo's room. I knew what she had to do. Everything she said was right. Jisoo still held a place in my heart. I still feel guilty whenever I think about how much Joohyun has done for me. It wasn't fair. It never was.
Joohyun opened my heart like the way she was able to get through my walls. She was only doing what was better for us. And I couldn't be more thankful for her. I didn't want to be a coward and disappoint Joohyun's effort to break the ice between us. I needed to be there for Jisoo just as I needed her.
We were about to turn from an intersection when we saw the girls rushing the other way to Jisoo's room. Joohyun and I panicked and called out to them.
"Chaeyoung! Where are you guys going?" From the look on their faces, something was wrong. I swallowed a lump in my throat as I prepared myself for it.
"Jisoo had a sudden cardiac arrest. She st-stopped breathing," Chaeyoung says, and I felt my body numb. Without any words, we ran our way to the ICU, where Jisoo got transferred.
