Maddie's POV:

"Troy* give it back!!!" I yell.

He runs in his room and locks the door.

"I'm serious Troy; give me my phone back" I bang on his door.

He opens the door and says, "Come on Maddie*, admit it, it's not like you have any friends in here anyway."

"You did not just go there," I say getting really mad, "I'm gonna strangle you you little-"

"Hey, hey, hey, what's going on here?" My mom says barging in preventing me from getting my little brother.

"Mom, Troy stole my phone. And he won't give it back to me."

"Sweetie, he's 9. Your 17, your age differences are to big for you guys to be fighting like that." She says putting her hand over my shoulder.

"Ya, but, he still took what belongs to me." I say.

"Troy, give your sister her phone back." My mom says.

"But she's grounded" Troy answers.

"Troy" She says raising her voice a little.

"Fine, here Maddie" he says handing me my phone.

"What do you say?" My mom asks.

Here we go again; she always makes us do this.

"I'm sorry" Troy says sounding annoyed.

"And..."

"And I love you" He says rolling his eyes.

"I love you what?"

"I love you big sister"

Great, now it's my turn.

"And Maddie, what do you say?"

"I forgive" I say rolling my eyes.

"You forgive what?"

"I forgive you little brother" I say sounding annoyed too.

"Good, now hug." my mom says.

We give the worst hug ever done on earth, but I guess that's good enough for my mom.

"Good, now Maddie go to your room, your still grounded for an hour more." My mom says.

I walk into my room that is painted all blue, and sit on my bed with a bed spread that has a picture of the waves on it. I have so many surfing posters on my wall, it's crazy.

The reason my parents didn't take my phone away was because, Troy was right, I don't have any friends in my phone. I don't have any friends period. The only thing I have on my phone is my parents contacts and every single issue of Surfing Magazine ever made. Which I've already read.

But I am grounded from surfing.

I stand up and look out my window. We live in a one story 2,500 sq. foot beach house in Oceanside, CA so I get a perfect view of the waves from my rooms window.

Oceanside is the perfect place to live for surfers. The water is always the perfect temperature, the waves get really big, and it's really beautiful.

There's a place I like to hang out at after I surf, Angelo's Burgers*. They have the best burgers ever. If you've ever been to Oceanside, you would know. There's one on every corner, seriously. They sell burgers, smoothies, milkshakes, fries, everything. It's just, perfect here.

I stare at the waves and count how long they're up before they crash. One, two, three, four, five, crash. Man, those are some good size waves, I've got to go surfing, like now.

I put on my bathing suit, put my hair in a high ponytail and grab my board. I start walking out of my room.

"Where do you think your going young lady?" My mom asks holding a laundry basket.

Oh yeah, I'm still grounded.

"But mom, there's 5 second waves out there."

"Go"

"But mom... wait did you say go?" I ask.

"Yes, you're off grounding. Now go catch some waves." She smiles at me.

"Thanks mom, your the best," I say then kiss her forehead, "love you"

"Love you too" my mom says as I'm running out the door heading towards the ocean.

I reach the ocean and lay on my board. I see a wave and head towards it, I stand up and start surfing.

"Woo hoo!!" I say because whenever I surf I... I feel so... alive.

"Woo hoo!!"
