Elijah's POV:

I find myself hugging Maddie a lot more than I have before. And texting her more often. I just... really like her.

WAIT, I REALLY LIKE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no, this will ruin everything!

"What will ruin everything?" Maddie asks.

Uh oh. I think I said that out loud.

"Uh Maddie, I'll call you later?" I say running home to my house.

"Uh ok" she says.

I've gotta talk about this to someone, but who, Maddie is my only friend.

I decide to just call my older cousin Derik.

"Hello" Derik says when he answers the phone.

"Come over now!!!" I say then hang up before he can say anything else.

I hear a knock on my door.

It's Derik.

"Hi Derik, how's it going?" My mom asks.

"Mom, we can't talk now. You can say hi to him later. We have something really important to talk about." I say.

"Ok then, you boys go ahead." She says.

Derik is 21, so he knows how to deal with stuff like this.

We walk in my room and I lock the door.

"Ok, what is it?" Derik asks while sitting on my bed.

"Ok, umm... I think I like my best friend."

"What? Really?"

I tell him everything.

"I think you should ask her out." Derik says.

"But what if that ruins our friendship?" I ask.

"Hey, if you guys spend that much time together and know that much about each other, then, chances are, she likes you back." Derik says

"Your right, I'm going over to her house right now." I say standing up and walking out of my room.

I walk to Maddie's house.

"Hey Maddie, can we talk in private?" I ask when she opens the door.

"Ya sure"

We walk into her room.

"What is it Elijah?"

"Umm... Maddie... will you... go out with me?"
